Publisher's Summary

Why are some people easily outsourced, downsized, or freelanced into obscurity, while others have their pick of opportunities? In his most powerful book yet, Seth Godin argues that it's more essential than ever to become indispensable – and the key to being indispensable is overcoming the fears that hold most of us back.

Fear of change, fear of authority, fear of embarrassment all come from the most primitive and powerful part of our brain. Godin shows how to overcome that internal resistance, so you can unleash your greatest art, passion, insight, and generosity at work.

Top 5 books of my life.

A true revolutionary mind-realigner, and a absolute must read for all artists, creators, entrepreneurs, and forward thinking people. Just finished it, and about to put it on play again. There is that much gold in here.

Changed the way I think about work.

The best part about this book is that it is not a 'how to' guide. Seth Godin writes in a way that empowers individuals to draw their own conclusions but whilst he is doing this, he educates with very valid examples of why he makes his point. This book has not only gifted me with permission to create and become and artist, but it makes me embrace the passion I have to make my own path. The first time I tried to listen to this book, I did not quite get into it. It does take a good amount of time to get to 'part 2' - or the guts of the book, but, having listened to the whole book, part 1 gives the book more depth overall. I really enjoyed it.

Just fluff

There is nothing profound or even remotely practical in this book. Seth has simply pumped out another generic business commentary piece that is as deep as to the TED audience it's designed to cater for.

Snake oil

I can’t stand books that tell you that they truly understand YOU in the first chapter. This book panders to people’s insecurities, and sets out to convince you that everyone can be special.
I was feeling ill after 10 minutes. What tosh!

A most inspiring read

Would you consider the audio edition of Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? to be better than the print version?

I found the audio edition very easy listening

What other book might you compare Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? to and why?

I think this is one of the best motivational stories that I have heard in a long time

Which character – as performed by Seth Godin – was your favorite?

I enjoyed all characters who gave a "gift"

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I couldn't wait to hear the next chapter

Any additional comments?

My biggest disappointment was that the book came to an end

Full of Wise Words

I've listened to many personal development books and Linchpin would probably at or near the top of them. It is full of wise words describing those key persons in an organisation and the qualities they embody, if there is any book I'd likely listen a second time this is it.
