Publisher's Summary

Marcy Hammer's life has been turned upside down. Her husband, the head of a global brassiere empire, didn't think twice about leaving her after thirty-three years of marriage for a 32DD lingerie model. Now Harvey the Home-Wrecker is missing in action, but Marcy's through thinking about what a cliché he is. What she needs now is a party-size bag of potato chips, a good support system, and a new dress.

Striking out on her own is difficult at first, but Marcy manages to find traces of humor in her heartbreak. Even while devastated by Harvey's departure, she still has her indomitable spirit and her self-respect. She has no intention of falling apart, either, even when her adult children drop a few bombshells of their own and she discovers a secret about her new, once-in-a-lifetime friend. Life may be full of setbacks, but by lifting herself up by her own lacy straps, Marcy just may be able to handle them all.

slow start, good middle and end

Almost gave up during beginning - too much whining, but as other characters and their problems were introduced the story picked up. Good job by narrator.

Second chance

I really liked this book. Perhaps I’m about the same age as Marcy and could relate to her issues of stale long marriage, empty nest, and passing of parents. Marcy is lucky to have good kids and friends. She is also lucky to have a second chance to live her life as she really wants after numerous stressful changes. She is a smart, plucky character with a snarky sense of humor to which I could relate. I found her awful husband’s business of ladies’ lingerie funny.

Couldn't stand her!

Really disliked the protagonist. Kept listening, hoping she would move on, but with just an hour left I have very little hope.

Nine hours of my life I can never get back.

I have listened to a lot of books this one has been the most disappointing story of all. This book is too much like real life we're usual stuff happens and most of the time we don't much about it. When it comes to books I should be entertained. I wanted the main character to react. I really wanted to like it.The writing itself isn't bad actually I've given better reviews to books that are written worst becuase atleast there was an attempt to have an entertaining storyline. I waited the whole story for the point, I never got it.

Not Funny or even interesting. Hours of whining.

Narrator was fine. But the main female character. (And I am so happy that I do not remember her name. Hoping that is a sign I will forget this whole painfully annoying book soon. ) Is so weak willed and whining about her poor life and her husband's affair. Which he tells her about instead of hiding it. How he is a Type A personality and Lingerie Mogul. But also a loving parent and caring husband, till he has a mid life crisis. Then she throws away 33 years of her marriage and tries to blame him. Even their kids think she is being a Drama Queen and Over reacting. In general she is a easy to hate character that goes to show Harvey is lucky to be getting free of her. Harvey is the Hero of this take. I truly hope this author does not keep trying to write such terrible characters and plots.

love the humor & cover

what is not to love ... I know that this story at times is tough to listen to or hear ... do to it's subject ... divorce is hard ... or at least I assume from what I have heard or seen in other friends ... it is a very rocky road. love that cover ... love the narrator ... such a great book. I will read more from Marilyn Simon Rothstein soon enough. Must check this out ... so would recommend it to ya!!
