Story
Do you find yourself hoping that someday, life will be less hectic? One day, you say, you’ll finally have time for the activities that you love–writing that book, completing that triathlon, traveling with friends. But if the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that life is unpredictable. If we’re not careful, dull, unfulfilling tasks can quickly occupy our precious hours, derail our best-laid plans, and make life feel like a slog.

Story
How do you feel about setting goals? I’ve heard people say they feel energized, depressed, confused, terrified, pumped, ambivalent, lost...or all of the above. Here’s what I’ve realized: Our relationship to success is inside-out. When we make our New Year’s resolutions, bucket lists, big plans, or weekly to-dos, we’re hoping that when we "arrive" we’ll be fulfilled. Our hearts will swell as we cross the finish line, and then we can finally relax and savor our happiness. Except more often than not, that doesn’t happen....

Story
In 2014, Elizabeth and Nate Thames were conventional 9-5 young urban professionals. But the couple had a dream to become modern-day homesteaders in rural Vermont. Determined to retire as early as possible in order to start living each day - as opposed to wishing time away working for the weekends - they enacted a plan to save an enormous amount of money: well over 70 percent of their joint take-home pay. Dubbing themselves the Frugalwoods, Elizabeth began documenting their unconventional frugality and the resulting wholesale lifestyle transformation on their eponymous blog.

Publisher's Summary
Internationally bestselling author Gretchen Rubin's tour of the five senses, finding happiness through sight, sound, touch, taste and scent.
Gretchen Rubin has spent over a decade exploring the different routes to happiness and contentment. But she realised that by focussing so much on the mind, she was missing out on the physical experience of being human. If we don't engage with our senses, time passes without us fully experiencing it.
So this audiobook will take you on a journey through the five senses, to help you get out of your head and into your life. With exercises to enhance your appreciation of food and nature, or sharpen your memory by learning to see more clearly, Life in Five Senses is a handbook for exploring the world more fully, and getting to know yourself along the way.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Beautiful whist full tales
Gretchen Rubin’s style of autobiographical self-help takes on a philosophical and whistful tone as her exploration of colour brings her closer to those she loves. A beautiful listen, a bit tearjerking at times.

Gretchin does it again - adding to my yearly re reads
I wasn't sure how I would feel about this new Gretchen Ruben book. it's quite different from the others, or so I thought. I was very excited to explore the world through the sensors, and be reminded of the practice of mindfulness, in Gretchen's modern and practical way.
I preordered the book...and it sat on my shelf for a year. it finally felt like the right time to read it, and I found that I had already read the introduction. I struggled to sit and read - my adhd brain not in the mood for non fiction. I decided the buy the audio book - and I'm so glad that I did.
I absolutely adored listening to this audiobook, and will be recommending it to every one I know. it was wonderful for its story, as well as how it can be implemented in one's own life. I've actually found this to be the most similar of gretchen's books to her original book, The Happiness project.
I love listening to Gretchin, and this way the perfrct supplement to her podcast, which I am always up to date with.
I loved this book, and will be re listening to it yearly to remind me of all the wonderful lessons, and the reminder to tap into our five senses, to be mindful and grateful and really feel alive.
I don't often give reviews. I don't often give 5 stars. But this book is perfectly Gretchin. An excellent casual listen with deep lessons and enlightenment subtly infused along the way. Perfect.
