Publisher's Summary

A victim on display. A detective on the rails.

Shopping with her sister, DI Amy Winter is admiring a Valentine’s Day window display of a perfect bride encrusted in diamonds and resplendent in lace - until she notices blood oozing from the mannequin’s mouth.

This is no stunt. A post-mortem reveals the victim was left to die on her macabre throne for all to see. When a second victim is found, it emerges that both women were "Sugar Babes" arranging dates with older men online - and Amy finds herself hunting an accomplished psychopath.

As she tracks down the killer, Amy’s instincts go into overdrive when the charismatic head of the agency behind the display makes no attempt to hide his fascination with her serial-killer parents. What exactly does he want from Amy? With her own world in freefall as her biological mother, Lillian Grimes, appeals her conviction, Amy pushes the boundaries of police procedure when a third "Sugar Babe" disappears...Is she as much at risk as the killer’s victims?

Slow

This is book 3 of the series. I have only read nook 1 so far. The story overall is pretty good. My problem is that it took too long to get to the point. They tell you who the bad guy is and what he has done, but there is so much side story that I got bored. Perhaps it is my problem, as of this reading I have read 89 books this year and it is only July. I maybe a little burned out. There is a pandemic and the only other activity for me is house work, which I refuse to consider. RECOMMENDATION: READ IT.

Best Amy Winter Yet!!

This third installment of the DI Amy Winter series is the best so far. The first two books were phenomenal, but this one had me hooked from the first chapter. It was so spellbinding, I finished it in one day. The narrator was excellent and I am eagerly awaiting for the next book. I hope that one day Lillian finally gets what's coming to her.

Engrossing series

I can’t wait for the next book. These are well written and totally engrossing stories that are hard to put down. The characters are wonderfully described. Thank you, Carline Mitchell.

Convoluted plot, irritating narration

I tried to like this, I really did. I’ve listened to many books read by Elizabeth Knowelden and have had no complaints whatsoever. This time, however, she speaks so quietly (close to whispering), I found it quite annoying. Author Caroline Mitchell, a favorite of mine, kept my attention at first. It was a cat-and-mouse game with DI Amy Winter. Mitchell tried to create a unique and suspenseful thriller, but falls short and I lost interest. Lesson learned: I will listen more intently to the sample audio. I pay for all books $12 and under to save my treasured credits for more pricey audiobooks and I am happy I did so with this one.

I Loved this Series

Every book was interesting with it's own great story. It was fun to come across some of the same characters and then meet new ones. I really hope there is another book coming. It was really a good mystery and I was drawn in quickly and couldn't wait to get back to the story especailly toward the end when the excitement grew. The narrator was excellent, sometimes I forget it is the same person doing all the characters. Thanks for such a good listen. Thanks to Audible for always keeping me company with great entertainment.

Another good listen from Caroline Mitchell

I am an great fan of Caroline Mitchell and the Any Winter series is one of my favorites. The characters are well developed and her biological mother is a great piece of wor even though she is a convicted murderer. Start with book 1 and read them in order to get the full picture. The author is currently writing book 4 and I can't wait.

BEST OF THE SERIES

This is the best out of the three books in the series. I recommend this series but it should start with Book 1. I wouldn't mind a narrator change for future releases. Elizabeth Knowelden is just OK where another GOOD narrator would take this series to the next level of suspense and drama. That's just my opinion!

Creative and exciting FOR MYSTERY LOVERS AND DRAMA, with enough romance to keep you on your toes!

This book is fascinating this is by far my favorite in the series, Caroline Mitchell is my favorite writer ever so far! I also love the performance by Elizabeth Knowelden she has a captivating way of telling these stories, it is weird to listen to other audio books and not hear her. I give these ratings because this is a fantastic story, and it is unprincipled which adds to the experience, I adore the way the author allows you to get inside the protagonists and hear the story from many point of views, never giving away any details that take away the effect from the grand reveal! I recommend this book for more mature audiences like 13 and older, strictly based on events that take place, but it is not describing graphic scenes, only saying the main gist of the events. PLEASE WRITE MORE BOOKS!!! I LOVE THEM!!! I personally recommend buying this book on audio and in book form, because this is so far my favorite series in 13 years!

I love the Amy Winters series

This is another great thriller The back story of Amy’s is brilliant and gives great scope for more great storylines. I await the next one with anticipation. I also would like to say Elizabeth Knowelden is great as the narrator.

Very entertaining

A very enjoyable third instalment of this series. Although it’s yet another police officer who flouts the rules of collecting evidence and police procedures with impunity. But then it’s fiction so I’ll get over it!

Completely unlikely scenario

Completely unlikely scenario with a DI who would never be tolerated in life, going her own dangerous way, and only getting away with it by sleeping with her DCI who is soft! I won’t read another by this author.
