Lovecraft hin, "dessen Einfluß man in Egners Werk ohnehin häufig nachweisen kann". Allerdings, so der Rezensent, sei Egners Prosa nur für Leute, "die auch schon mal über Lovecraft herzlich lachen konnten".
"Nach Hause" - die Titelgeschichte schlägt das Thema an, das in acht weiteren Variationen durchgespielt wird: Die Menschen in Egners Geschichten sind auf dem Weg nach Hause. Nur sollen sie dort nie ankommen. "Kindheitsphotos" ist die 7. Erzählung von Eugen Egners neunteiliger Reihe "Nach Hause".
