Publisher's Summary

  • ELa Emperatriz Teodora
  • Motines, Revueltas y Reconstrucción
  • Corpus Juris Civilis
  • Expansión del Imperio
  • Religión
  • La vida en los tiempos de Justiniano
  • La decadencia de Justiniano
  • Legado
  • Y mucho, ¡mucho más!

Exciting story

Readers seeking lurid tales of scandal in the personal lives of Justinian and his powerfully independent wife, Theodora, would do well to look elsewhere. Those stories were first promulgated by their contemporary, the historian Procopius. Baker, while relying on Procopius for some historical data, is aware and wary of his biases and steers well clear of his gossip-mongering.

Justinian Baby!

I'm delighted to have found this author, and a series of audibles! It is by far the most engrossing thing I've listened in some time. I've been through all of them now (except the one on Hannibal which I couldn't find).

Great

As usual, Captivating History gives a quick overview of an influential historical figure, and his influential wife, with plenty of options to learn more. If more history was taught about people and events instead of just memorizing their names and dates, people may just want to learn more of their past.

ustinian and Theodora

The story of Justinian would not be complete without an understanding of his relationship with his wife Theodora. Justinian was born to peasants in the 6th century, but he was taken under his wing by his uncle who later became the emperor of the Byzantine Empire.

Very Enlightened !!!

One of the least known names in a long line of Roman emperor. But, this man’s influence is still felt today. Kinda like the old trite saying saving the best of last. Listen to this & be informed of someone not as well known but just as important in accomplishments as many of the other emperors.

The Impressive Story of Justin

This audible brings to life the story of Justinian and Theodora, an incredibly powerful pair who ruled the Byzantine Empire. I'd like to comment that this was an easy-to-listen audible because the author explained complex concepts, such as Miaphysite Christianity, within the text.

Recommend

I've gotten rather enthralled in Captivating History audibles of late. For anyone interested in quick listens, they are that. But they're also full of a lot of details without all the garblygoo you find in much longer History audible. I recommend this audible for those who love History. Even if you thought you knew about Justinian I, I bet you still learn something.
