Publisher's Summary

Meddling gods. A magical card system. An apocalypse no one could have predicted.

Jake is working at the neighborhood market under his apartment when the world ends. He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that?

When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

Jake, wasting his day slacking off in the cooler, as he usually did, found himself alone in a completely new and very dangerous world. Can he learn to survive? Can he collect enough cards and create a good enough deck to fight back against the monsters that have overtaken his former home? And why are these strange people that look a lot like elves knocking on the door of the market he is hiding in and asking to buy some of his goods?

The gods may have stacked the deck against him, but Jake just might have a few cards up his sleeve that will help him survive.

Took a chance and don't regret it at all.

Refreshingly unique, solid writing, with great reading.
Not done yet, but happily binging.
Well done!

Surprisingly funny

This book caught me off guard it had no reviews and just came out being the author's first book he did an amazing job to create a world into characters that have real problems and find real solutions the story full of humor and funny moments that will catch you off guard I do highly recommend reading this book.

great progression story

pros:
The story mixes several types of progression stories loosely around the MC. (done very well)
the characters are very well thought out and each have their own character development which is often ignored in this genre.
The no harem or eternal virgin story fluff.

cons:
The story moves away from the market almost entirely other than it being a Place the MC wants to return to.
This is not a story of the progression of a market in another world from a shack to a multinational conglomerate as I was desperately hoping for.

Full Long Reviews (I also hate long reviews)

I liked this book alot, like my other reviews I'm going to say what I didn't like about this book and say what I did like about it. Number 1 This book in the start is really repetitive don't get me wrong I love this book it's like you are living in the book it gives a sort of immersion, how you ask by stocking the shelves of your store, doodling in your journal, growing your garden, Fighting dungeons, finding more humans, Training, this book is like you are the person at least for the first couple hours then the action starts. Also I don't like how this book has so much dialog I know I just wrote a paragraph on how good it was but there was alot of useless stuff in this book don't get me wrong this author has remarkable writing skills all I got to say is DO NOT BINGE this Is a book you listen to a hour or two a day I got this book when it came out and chain listened 16 hours until it got boring if you do get into the 4 hour mark and think it's getting boring just wait. this book is also so dramatic I couldn't find a better word to describe it the Mc gets depressed then happy then gets sad for killing someone goes on a 10 minute rant on how it's his responsibility or something like that. it might seem that I'm making the book seem bad but I like it I just want people to get this book and know what they are getting this review is detailed and hopefully someone gets it.

Fun new take in the genre

For litrpg fans like myself this was a fun new take in the genre. A card system, other magical cores and more all worked together very well.

overall the story and voice acting was great! I will say that I liked the first half more than the second as the power spikes got very high very fast but this should be a testament to the first half where I could barely put it down.

I look forward to the next book.

differently excellent

Although the majority of this book is not about his shop it is used in a great way to get the story going. I have become very much more interested in what a card collecting litrpg-esq book can provide and cannot stress enough that this book is very much worth the time and investment

Loved it r/

this book is great and a great choice of narration too this book appears to be stand alone so don’t wait for the next book buy it now
Don’t be fooled by the book title he doesn’t spend all his time wheeling and dealing or the card system mc isn’t as restricted like one would expect in this type of power system
One thing I love about this book and author without any spoiling is he could of made this as a 2 book with only a small amount of padding turned this comfortably into a three book series but didn’t and combined with good writing which this is that’s always a sign of a good author I’ll certainly be waiting on his next books

Really enjoyable!

I recently just finished reading this and am ecstatic to see an audible version narrated by Travis Baldree too!

This book has an extremely unique universe I thoroughly enjoyed exploring with the main character.
