About this listen

Reidon Ward will become a god.

He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly, and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him.

However, his perseverance has not gone unnoticed, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly. Granted a CAD—a Combat Assistance Device—with awful specs but an infinite potential for growth, Reidon finds himself at the bottom of his class at the Galens Institute, one of the top military academies in the Collective. Along with his best friend, Viviana Arada, Reidon will have to start his long climb through the school rankings and on to the combat tournament circuits that have become humanity's greatest source of excitement and entertainment.

So begins the rise of a god. So begins the ascent of the Stormweaver.

really enjoyed this book. fantastic story and characters. would say maybe some fight scenes were over described for people that had no bearing on the main story but it was really good.

Great Story, enjoyable listen

After listening to over 300 audiobooks sci-fi, fantasy and LitRPG, this book is my favourite from a book 1. It had me hooked early on,m, the characters and story line are engaging and draw you in and keep you.

Luke Daniel was great as always makes the book engaging and brings characters to life you know if he is doing its a must listen.

Must listen will not regret

When the book ended, I literally screamed out "no!" I suppose that's a pretty good indication of the story's quality. I will be picking up the next one in a few days. A great development from pitifully week to the head of the pack, the journey of the main character and his friends is one I intend to follow.

Simply outstanding

I’ve read a lot of books — hundreds — and this is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to leave a review.

Iron Prince starts off strong. The worldbuilding is solid, the system is interesting, and Reidon is a protagonist you can root for. For the first third, it delivers what it promises: a serious progression story with real effort, pain, and growth.

Then it shifts — hard. A character who physically assaulted and nearly killed Reidon is slowly brought into his inner circle, without real consequences or believable growth. A close friend witnesses more abuse and says nothing. There's no confrontation, no emotional payoff — just a quiet rewrite of the characters’ roles like the earlier events never mattered.

For a book that built itself on earned struggle and trust, that shift felt unearned and disconnected. It broke the tone and made it hard to stay invested.

1 star — not because it starts bad, but because it ends in a place that doesn’t respect what it set up.

Spoiler Alert: Strong start, but undermined by unearned character shifts
