Publisher's Summary

Into Darkness is the fifth episode in Terry Goodkind's new serial novel, The Children of D'Hara. Told in irresistibly intense installments, this is the story of a world confronted by an apocalyptic nightmare.

The insatiable hunger of Golden Goddess....

The irresistible power of a Witch's Oath....

A fracture in the world of life....

An opening in the world of death....

Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell face the perfect storm.

"The Sword of Truth series was my masterwork. Yet, life for these characters goes on after the conclusion of that series. For years readers have been asking about Richard and Kahlan's children. This is that story." (Terry Goodkind)

In 1994 Wizard's First Rule introduced Richard Cypher, a young woodsman seeking answers and vengeance in the aftermath of his father's murder, and Kahlan Amnell, a mysterious young woman pursued by a bloodthirsty tyrant's assassins. The Sword of Truth is one of the most ambitious fantasy series ever written. It was a decades-long masterwork that has been translated into 20 languages and sold 26 million copies.

After 16 volumes and one novella, it concluded in 2016 with Warheart. The Children of D'Hara picks up immediately after the conclusion of the Sword of Truth series. The story will be told in installments, as novella-length episodes published every three months. Into Darkness is the fifth novella.

I loved it

I love Richard and Kahlan so much. I could reread this series all over again from book 1

Another great story.

Worth the wait. If you consider the Children of D'hara series in totality I'd say it's in the top 5 of all Mr. Goodkind's work. There's still questions left unanswered but I'm hoping that means there's going to be more to the story.

Not Terry's best work

Just finished and absolutely the most mediocre ending I could have imagined. I did not appreciate the booklet form of this series, finding it to be significantly higher in price. Perhaps Terry has just run out of creativity, but the end was, well, really bland. The narrator was not up to par of the other books in the series. This just was a huge disappointment. Maybe that's what I needed to finally be done

wanting more

normally i read, but the narrator did an outstanding job with voices and inflection just as i would, and did great service to a very well written book by Mister Goodkind.
Infact, his final chapter of the Richard and Kahlan series is as good if not better than his First.
well done.
i did the most nerdy thing when i finished the audio book.
when it was done, i clapped.
that was me. sitting in my truck, in a public parking lot by myself, clapping.
only because i didn't have room to stand.

very well done

children of d'hara

I've loved the S.O.T. books since the beginning, but the original series just was....better than the sulachan and this series. These books lack the philosophical undercurrent, and character development from the original series, law of nines, and First Confessor. I'm a fan no doubt...but I've got my favorites.

Into Darkness. a wild Ride.

this is the final book of the Children of Dharra. This book completes the connection to Terry's Novel, The Law of Nines. it also fills in open plot holes from the first Sword Of Truth series.

this book starts slow. There is a bit of world building adding to the world we know while taking us on another "Crazy Idea" Adventure in which Lord Rahl battles the Threat of the Golden Godess.

Terry said this series would be the missing link between worlds and it very much is.

The ending comes out of nowhere like hitting the brakes on the interstate right as you get to the exit where your trip ends. but instead of actually reaching the end destination, you get to the parking lot of the hotel. but you don't actually get to go inside.

I had a wonderful trip to get to the end. but we don't get to see the inside of our destination. it is up to us to imagine what the end looks like.
