Publisher's Summary

A #1 Audible bestseller

Two hundred years ago a loyalist family fled to England to escape the American War of Independence and seemingly vanished into thin air. American genealogist Jefferson Tayte is hired to find out what happened, but it soon becomes apparent that a calculated killer is out to stop him.

In the Blood combines a centuries-old mystery with a present-day thriller that brings two people from opposite sides of the Atlantic together to uncover a series of carefully hidden crimes. Tayte's research centres around the tragic life of a young Cornish girl, a writing box, and the discovery of a dark secret that he believes will lead him to the family he is looking for. Trouble is, someone else is looking for the same answers and will stop at nothing to find them.

In the Blood is the first in the Jefferson Tayte mystery series.

Great story

A really great complex story. Although I knew it would work out in the end it was by no.means predictable. It was riveting. At times I did find the narrator a little trying with his different unconvincing accents.

Unique detective story

I am a big mystery and detective story buff and it takes a fair bit to impress me, but I really loved the unique premise of this book. It was fast paced and credible with a satisfying number of twists and turns. It was performed well by Simon Vance who was enjoyable and witty and made great use of the material. Do not start this book if you have something important to do, you will not be able to turn it off. I am buying the next one in the series now.

A thoroughly absorbing novel!

A real page turner as they say which keeps you on the edge of your seat. I actually resented the interruptions which forced me to leave the story for the often necessary functions of life. That's two of the author's books I've enjoyed and can't wait for the next!

Slow Start Big Finish

It took a while for me to get into the book, but glad I persisted as I did end up enjoying the book. The story is told through three timelines and sometimes a timeline changed within a chapter so I did find it confusing at times. It was well narrated and by the end I was listening every chance I could, as it had me hooked. Was able to purchase this for $2.99 and at that price it was a bargain. I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.
