Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality - the “other,” the shadow side - is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses - our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power.

Highly recommend
It is a recorded workshop, so you get to feel like a part of it. The author raised lots of 'out of sync' issues with modern dating. One line that I really liked was about meeting people and knowing what you want out of that meeting. If you want to get married, do not waste time on someone who does not. She said once you have booked a flight to New York, you won't board a plane to New Mexico. Why change your destination when you are meeting men? :)

Great Perspective on Dating
What did you love best about In Sync with the Opposite Sex?
I'm such a fan of Alison's work that I felt compelled to write a review. I've listened to all of her materials and this is my favorite. Wherever you are in your relationships, dating or married or maybe given up, Alison offers insights that are profoundly impactful and that just might make you laugh out loud when you see how silly men and women can be. I laugh frequently when I listen to this recording and always get something out of it. I can't recommend it enough.
What was one of the most memorable moments of In Sync with the Opposite Sex?
There is a moment where one of the male participants asks Alison about overpowering chemistry. Their back and forth, especially when he remembers he's being recorded, is delightful and reveals quite a lot about the power of chemistry.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from In Sync with the Opposite Sex?
I've taken so much from this particular recording. The two biggest takeaways are a shifted perspective on men and compassion for myself and other women as we struggle to make our relationships work in the quest for love.
Any additional comments?
I came to this work and wanted to learn from Alison out of a desperation to find and make a romantic relationship work. I returned because this work increases my capacity to be a compassionate contributor to the world and to myself. It's about so much for than finding a boyfriend.

I can't recommend this enough!
Alison Armstrong really breaks down the different and 'opposite' way that men and women approach dating and makes sense of it all. I learned so much from this program and have already listened to it twice. She knows men and women in a whole different way than most people. Her insights and program were not just insightful, but extremely reassuring that I'm not alone in this journey of dating!

More about dating than relationships
From the title, I was expecting more about relationships than dating but, although this gives basics for how she thinks about things, this was more helpful for dating than for established relationships. I like the partnership one better.

Fantastic !
I agree with most of what Alison says, except that she says that we can't have a relationship with someone whom we are very attracted to. I want to be very attracted to man, otherwise I don't want a relationship with him. Also sex is important in a relationship and how do you have sex with someone you're not really attracted to? Apart from this point I loved this workshop and all the useful information she provides. Highly recommended!

Essential for everybody looking for their partner
Would you listen to In Sync with the Opposite Sex again? Why?
Yes, there is so much amazing information that will help me in my work as a couples' therapist, and that will help me give better advice to friends who are looking for love or at the early stages of relationship. Plus it is so humorously delivered that it is great fun to listen to.
What other book might you compare In Sync with the Opposite Sex to, and why?
Alison Armstrong is like no other person I have come across in the field of understanding opposite sex relationships in terms of her depth of understanding of and compassion and respect for BOTH sexes. I have been working on this stuff for years and she has dramatically transformed for the better my view of men as a woman in the few short months since I discovered her work, and not only that she has helped me transform my understanding of myself as a woman. And it is done with genuine love, deep respect and utter adoration of men and women in their differences.
Which character – as performed by the narrator – was your favourite?
This is a recorded workshop on dating - there are no characters.
Any additional comments?
I cannot recommend Alison Armstrong strongly enough to any man or woman, whether looking for a partner or in a relationship or already married - she will change your LIFE!

So I am normal and right on track
If you could sum up In Sync with the Opposite Sex in three words, what would they be?
Informative
Interesting
Essential
What other book might you compare In Sync with the Opposite Sex to, and why?
I have read the Creating Conscious Loving Relationships by the Hendricks and so this audio book I consider as important and helpful as the Hendricks one.
What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
This is a recorded live workshop so you can hear and even the real emotions of people here
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes! when Alison asks women about things I thought it was only me that was doing them and I even thought I was crazy. Alison asked the ladies in the workshop Am I right ladies? and all at unison said YES. That was an aha moment for me. So I am normal and I feel and think just like any other woman. Wonderful!
