Romance is in the air!

Elaine is still far from home, far from Remus. Her friends and family don't even know if she's alive.

I want MORE it's just so good, also pretty much the whole book I was waiting to get back to Elaine's home but then we were only there for like 2 chapters and I was physically shaking with excitement during the two chapters but then got really disappointed when we skipped off back to Iona

Another great book, the elves were definitely my least favourite part of the series. That and all the forced romance. I skipped the “sex talk” chapters and found I missed literally nothing of importance to the story beyond feeling cringe.

Really loved the last few chapters. I’m super excited for what happens next. Overall another great book and I look forward to buying the next one.

Good book! Well worth the read even if the elves are a bit grating at the beginning. They get better, but their arrogant characterisation is the only complaint I have about this novel. The romance I also wasn’t a massive fan of, though it was faithful to Elaine’s characterisation. That being said, patience should reward you, and I’m sure the book will suitably entertain. On a macro level I have no complaints. Plot starts slow but quickly gets to the action (the part I tend to like). Power progression is good too and Elaine gets to show her competency and guile. At the beginning, I especially enjoyed moralistic reflections on her oath which I feel was explored in a massively interesting way both hypothetically and practically. I’m on the edge of my seat as we return to Remus. Good writing all round, and among the best of its genre.

I've really been enjoying this series, however Elaine is getting a bit full of herself which is starting to grate on me. The sex talk was pretty unbearable especially given it was with an elf/immortal... Elaine doesn't like people mainsplaining things to her but is more than happy to do it to others. I'll give the series one more go but at this rate I'm not holding out hope. So conflicting when Elaine isn't into politics but is so political in her views about what's 'right and wrong'.
