Fallout after an affair

I've read this book and so many more like it.
It's very unfortunate that it took my wife having an affair for me to realize how important her needs were that weren't being met.
Now an affair is the decision of the spouse involved, but had a followed the advice in this book I am sure it would have never had happened.
Read this book, his needs her needs, love busters, and the 5 love languages and you will be well on to your way to understanding a woman's needs.

I was the guy who thought i didn't need to read this type of stuff. Boy was I wrong.

Really wish I would have read this 3 years sooner

This book taught me so much about my bad habits and how they affected the woman I loved most. It's crazy how unprepared we are for what it takes to grow in a healthy relationship. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with someone they love.

Mandatory for most Men

Loved it. Have recommended this book to several men in my congregation. Smalley breaks it down.

I’m not sure I can do this... but she’s worth it so I must.

If you’re anything like me you try to be a good husband and love your wife well. But we may not be as good and we think we are. This book hurts to read. It cuts straight to your pride and reveals just how self centered we husbands can be even without realizing it. Reading this book is like constantly looking in the mirror and closely examining all of you faults and weaknesses and noting where you have dropped the ball and must change, when all you really want to do is keep pointing out what is clearly wrong with you wife and what she can do to make your marriage better. The later hasn’t worked in 13 years and I don’t think it’s going to... I have to change me.

Bottom line, I can’t make her change. I can only change me and trust God and my wife enough to let them work out what needs to change in her and trust that timeline to both her and God. How hypocritical of me to seek her change first when I’m unwilling to work on me where I need to improve.

Though I just finished this audio book I am going to immediately start it again because I have got to get this and start making changes with me.

Practical advice

This book is amazing, I especially like that the author put his personal life in the lines, he truly shows that these things did not come by chance, but by failures, errors, and practical lessons he learned over many years. I will do my best as a husband to apply these principles in my marriage, and I will watch our marriage bloom. I encourage you from a man to a man to take the time, listen and apply the lessons in this boom
