Story
Grier's work as a Haint is the one thing that makes her feel normal, but even that's more paranormal than usual. Spirits are vanishing from well-known hot spots on the ghost tour circuit, and vampires are turning up as shriveled husks. Grier takes it upon herself to uncover what's preying on Savannah's supernatural community, and what she uncovers is bigger than a few flickering lampposts gone dark. It's a deadly threat unleashed by one of their own, and saving her city just might kill her.

Story
Grier Woolworth spends her nights weaving spooky tales of lost souls and tragedies for tourists on the streets of downtown Savannah. Hoop skirt and parasol aside, it's not a bad gig. The pay is crap, but the tips keep the lights on in her personal haunted mansion and her pantry stocked with ramen. Life is about as normal as it gets for an ex-necromancer hiding among humans - until the society that excommunicated Grier offers her a second chance at being more than ordinary. Too bad no one warned her the trouble with being extraordinary is it can get you killed.

Story
I thought I understood power. My parents taught me that magic attracts equal danger, and everything I've seen since becoming a demon contractor confirms it. I've witnessed how power twists and corrupts - and I've tasted power no human should wield. I thought I knew greed. Ambition and avarice drove my family into hiding. My parents died for someone else's greed. I've never hunted anything in my life, but now I'm hunting their killer - with my demon's help. I thought I'd seen evil. But with each step closer to my parents' murderer, I'm uncovering a different sort of evil.

Story
Nothing says romance like spending a long weekend at a haunted inn famed for sending its guests to the ER with scratches, bites, and fractures. Or so Linus thinks when he books a trip for Grier and himself to Oliphant House. As far as honeymoons go, the choice is nontraditional, but then, so is his bride. Haunted history is one of Grier's great loves, and she's thrilled to discover Linus has given her a mystery to solve. Forget walks on moonlit beaches and sipping fruity drinks, Grier would much rather unravel the curse that's plagued the Oliphant family for generations.

Story
When I arrived at my uncle's house, I expected my relatives to be like me - outcast sorcerers who don't practice magic. I was right about the sorcery, but wrong about everything else. Rule two: Don't listen to the demon. My uncle chose a far deadlier power. He calls creatures of darkness into our world, binds them into service contracts, and sells them to the highest bidder. And I'm supposed to act like I don't know how illegal and dangerous it is. Rule three: Don't talk to the demon. All I had to do was keep my nose out of it.

No spoilers
Ok first off i read some reviews that stated this was the last book in this series ?? I don't think so it feels like there will be more. part of the story was ok but there were parts that felt rushed or not well thought out but over all not bad. As far as the narrator Mitchell she portrayed the main character as very whiny and down trotted the whole time also this was supposed to be centered in the South where was that southern draw and twang that southerns have. Mitchell told the story in a straight voice. This would have been a much better audio book if it had been told with that southern flair. I would read more of this series i like the author not sure I will get the audio unless the narrator is changed. The book and series gets a 5 star. Narrator a 3 she wasn't horrible but not that good either.

Narrator is too robotic.
I normally don't comment on narrators, sense their performances are based on both a directors interpretation of events and the authors inputs, or so i assume. However i have to say that the fact that the narrator in this book never once seemed to change her emotional cadence regardless of what was happening in the scene or what the author wrote the character to sound like got a bit irksome. Reading action, suspense, romantic, or just informative scenes in that exact same voice even when things change suddenly made me think that the narrator was the most human sounding robot i've heard yet. Beyond narration problems, I have to admit that i had a rather hard time suspending my disbelief when it came to action scenes and Grier using her symbols during battle. People seemed to simply stand around and let her write them on them or at them with out doing anything to interrupt the process. If i was a vampire and some lady started writing crap on the air with her own blood, i feel i wouldn't have just stood around and waited to see what would happen. Nor if i was a guard who was angry would i just stand there while said lady drew symbols on my forehead. Maybe the symbols are really simple but i can't see anyone not jerking back or shaking their head if someone starts wiping blood on them. Which would make it nearly impossible to draw even a single straight line let alone what ever the symbols are supposed to look like. The only thing i can think of is that she has some kind of super speed that she has never mentioned. Though to be fair the action scenes are slow enough and disjointed enough that i could believe that. Compliants aside i am not disappointed with my purchase. it's a good fun and sweet story. i look forward to catching the next on.

Whoa!
Let’s go Greer! The city has been attacked, Greer and Linus have their jobs cut out for them. The elite, the gwilgee, and the house full of family keeps them all on their toes. Add in vampires running amuck.... and you have the new life Greer and Linus have become part of. I loved this story. These characters are growing into something spectacular and with each book the story grows into something new and refreshing. Also, it’s a little nerve wrecking. Lol Greer and Linus keep getting themselves into trouble, though now, they at least seem competent to keep up and pull their arses out of trouble. Savannah under siege, vampires, lead by Greer’s grandfather, are everywhere and when things turn grave, it’s Greer who steps up and makes a choice, one that will forever bond her to the city she loves. It’s a point in turn that hopefully leads to more abs more of these characters. I can’t wait to see what happens next! I need more, now!
