Basic but not bad

The book has some very good basic information with a focus on the UK context. The author is less non-partisan than he represents himself as and some of his views should be taken with a grain of salt (as with all books in this class). I’m worried that readers could come away very bullish on gold as an investment vehicle rather than as a currency independent hedge against inflation.

The info on reported vs actual inflation was interesting but I’d recommend actually reading your reserve bank reports on how they calculate these numbers (reserve bank of Australia does this quite well) as the views presented in the book are a little bias towards the authors world view.

Read this book but don’t build your view of world finance off this alone.
