Publisher's Summary

In How to Get Over a Boy, best-selling author Chidera Eggerue will show you, once and for all, how to reframe the stale goal of finding a man. She will equip you with tangible and applicable solutions for every part of your dating life, helping you recognise that men hold as much power in our romantic lives as we grant them.

In the past, dating books tend to lean more into the territory of 'how to make him find you hot!', 'how to make him jealous!', 'how to get him to propose!'. But these how-tos are placing men on a pedestal of being 'the prize'. Men are never the prize. You are. Let The Slumflower show you why.

A great listen in the throes of a breakup

As the title suggests, only really appropriate for cishet women coming out of a relationship with a man. I enjoyed the focus on returning to self love, but it also does rely on the fact that the man was a bit trash to begin with. Overall, good pump up for the broken-hearted with some nice actionable points to navigate the process

Touching

Beautifully written and worded. Precise and direct. A wonderful reminder of the power you hold, and also the power people can hold over you if you don’t pay attention. As a victim to many of the situations mentioned, I found this book comforting, eye opening and heart shattering.

Amazing

This is a book every woman should read or listen to. I feel as if the writer has walked me through some of the roughest points in my life and that she has turned the mirror of love, strength, and exeptance around to face me, and I'm seeing clearly for the first time. I've already recommend this book to multiple friends and I'm going to buy copies for them. 10/10!

Childera is a Goddess!!

This book has been unbelievably influential and transformative in helping get out of a toxic relationship and putting myself and my needs first. Childera is an incredible narrator; the way she speaks is simultaneously soothing and empowering!❤️

phenomenal book

I personally believe every woman needs to read this book and will find value in this book at some point in their life. This is the type of book I will be sure to encourage my future daughter to read BEFORE she experiences her first breakup. The narrator's tone is a brilliant bonus to the value of this audiobook. 10/10 recommend. Men should read it and learn a thing or two as well

Speaks to the heart of the issue

I loved this book. I just wish I had this when I was young, but am finding it a transformative guide even at 50.

I don’t like the racial split undertones

But overall the book is good . I feel like it talks about feminism and empowering women, but still divides women by their race. It’s a shame. But each to their own.

Sublime

This is the best book I've come across on self love and freeing oneself from dependence on validation from men. An intelligent, intersectional, refreshing insight into break-ups, this helped me finally move on from a relationship that had been hanging over me for more than a year. I felt so seen and understood and I cannot overstate how much I wish everyone would read/listen to this book.

Waking up my conflictingly ideological brain TFU!!

This book is read by Chidera Eggerue, which is honestly my personal favourite thing about listening to books in general. It's an incredible experience, to hear it read out loud, hearing their voice creates the reality and makes it feel personal, to hear it and understand how they wrote it.
The nature of the book has admittedly loosened some grave dirt for me, those Skeletons I thought were packed tight 6 feet under.
Some subjects on socialisation, sexology (I'd never heard of before this book) and how my time is precious, valuable and anyone who wants my attention should earn it!
The book is very liberating, it's enough to deal with those Skeletons I've avoided for so long.
Thank you Chidera Eggerue!

Amazing!!!

I’ve read Chidera’s other book, what a time to be alone and I loved it, but I wish I got it in an audio book purely to hear her tone. I’ve just gone through a break up and this book has made me feel so much better to navigate the world alone! I’d really recommend if you have just gone through a break up, want to learn to be more independent or be your truest self!
