Publisher's Summary

The crime thriller series of the year!

Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end.

The remains of a 17th-century witch, an MP found hanging above a five-pointed star and three girls with powers beyond anyone's control. As DI Tanner and DS Evans endeavour to make plans for their big day, the chance discovery of Norfolk's last known witch, tried and hanged by Norfolk’s infamous Witchfinder General, sparks a chain of the most horrific events, none of which Tanner seems able to prevent.

The narrator puts life into this!

A bit of a far fetched storyline but engrossing non-the-less and the characters are brought to life by this excellent narrator. Would recommend for a light hearted enthralling modern whodunnit

Cried and loved it

What an emotional roller coaster. Narrator was brilliant. Not sure if I want to listen to the next one. This one was very traumatic.

Gripping and emotional

I’ve enjoyed each book in this series and warmed to the characters. I appreciated the way David Blake portrayed the raw and complex emotions of grief instead of glossing them over. I hope there will be more books in this series.
Jonathan Keeble is a wonderful narrator.

Sad

I was gutted with this book. I’ve been binge listening and was so mad at the author!
I do like this series but there is some very annoying police procedural scenes which just would never happen IRL. I know you need to suspend reality but really - it greatly irritated me.

Storyline shock

I was so angry with David Blake that I had to pause listening for a few days but came back to it and was pleased at how he dealt with the sadness of this storyline. I’m still gutted about one of my favourite characters but … looking forward to what develops in future books

No no no

This is a load of old cobblers
A vial head detective who is nasty to the dead girls parents. I’ve listened to many of these books and this is the worst written one. Have to stop can’t hear any more. Load of old cobblers

Not the best delivery

I thought that the story was as entertaining as Blake's previous plots, and advanced Tanner's character. However, my enjoyment was spoilt by the narrator who, at times, was too loud and overly melodramatic in his delivery.

Disappointing

Whilst I have thoroughly enjoyed the other books in this series I found this one to be somewhat disappointing .
Once again Jonathon Keeble delivered a wonderful narration and as always I found his voice so easy to listen to and it was only because of this fact that I persevered to the end.

Blake Must Hate This Series For This Ending

Story all over the shop and no real connection between people - Even Tanner and Jenny. The story line was muddled, murky and mouldy. And the way Jenny is discarded leaves everyone asking as to why? No closure for readers here. Tanner became annoyingly ridiculous and became weaker and weaker as a character. Shoddy Work!
