Publisher's Summary

The debut crime thriller series of the year!

Four missing children, three murdered men and the helm of a boat with a blood-red sail, hiding a secret only he can tell.

Returning to the Broads after nearly two years at sea, John Tanner moors up next to a boat to find the body of a man whose five-year-old daughter is nowhere to be seen. As a torrent of unwanted memories begins flooding through his mind, an attractive Broads Ranger arrives at the scene with a disturbing tale; one of children being taken by a ghostly figure, standing at the helm of an old wooden boat.

Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance which will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.

The Wherryman is a totally addictive gripping crime thriller, the sixth in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones which will rapidly convert followers of L J Ross, Faith Martin, Joy Ellis, Damien Boyd and J M Dalgliesh into David Blake devotees.

Disappointing

I started off really liking this series but they have become so similar. It’s unique having a sailing story but unfortunately that’s about all that’s unique. I won’t bother again

Tanner’s back

I liked this more than I thought I would. However, Tanner’s actions are out of line for normal police procedure as far as I can tell. I must admit the ending was the least liked part of the book for me. It was sad and rather violent.

The narration was a plus. Jonathan Keeble does his usual fine job.

Great book and wonderful narration..

I really enjoyed this book, even though I've read so many books since then that I had to go back and read the other review to try to remember what happened. AND then I remembered Jenny and how ticked off I was at this author for that!

Anyway, lots of killings and stolen children that Tanner had to solve.

No sex and the F-bomb was used 16 times.

As for the narration: Jonathan Keeble is one of the very BEST English narrators.

i wish I could collect a credit for every
book featuring a beautiful female character with green eyes. i went to high school with a classmate who sported eyes the color of Siamese
cats. Eyes were blue or brown.
Now green is the go-to color for
the 21st century eyes. It means
I'm not gonna like the book.... just as
I disliked this one.

Great story

Tanners back, sad and dishelved, after 2 Years away grieving for Jenny.
Soon back in the thick of it, helping to solve the mystery of the missing children and the various murders.
Good plot, which it had been longer.
Love the narration
Roll on the nest Tanner case.
Superb.

Superb

I have been waiting so long for this book to come to Audible (probably because Jonathan Keeble is such a popular narrator and gets booked up quickly!) and it didn't disappoint.

I wondered what would happen to DI John Tanner after the devastating events in Horsey Mere. Would things ever be the same? Well David Blake managed to surpass all my expectations and delivered a brilliant 6th book in this fantastic series. The action takes place two years after Horsey Mere and Tanner is a different man. The story is so gripping that I listened in one sitting. Just the thought of the ghostly Wherryman sailing an old wooden boat with a red sail, stealing children, was enough to give me goosebumps! Can't wait for the next installment.

As always the narration was superb, and Mr Keeble was worth waiting for :-)
