Peter Gotthardt is in 1946 geboren in Denemarken, vlakbij Kopenhagen. Als kind was hij dol op lezen en bracht hij veel van zijn tijd door in het bibliotheek waar hij veel geschiedenisboeken en avonturenboeken las.
Gotthardt heeft meer dan 60 boeken voor kinderen geschreven, waarvan er vele zich in het rijk van de elfen bevinden.
