angry

there's one thing that ruined this book for me: the ending. I was obvious that Rice just wanted to keep 'the main villain' alive so that she can come back in later books to cause trouble. this broke the realism in the book because it made some characters hypocrites as they were like Ok I won't kill you because that's immoral but I will let you get captured by slavers so that you can inevitably escape and come back to seek your revenge.

I love these books. Absolute perfect narration.

Great book. The narration of these books, again, was spot on. The love story of Ceres and Thamos was not believable though. Why would a woman as strong as Ceres be in love with such a sissy. Oh he could fight but not very well it seems. She gives him the power over her that reeks of a "daddy complex" although she has a loving, caring father. I didn't understand that dynamic. I hope the next book shows her stronger not only in fighting skills (getting her power back) but emotional skills as well.
