Publisher's Summary

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.

In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon, Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side...and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Critic Reviews

“Take one half-human/half-vampire female with serious anger and parental issues, add in a sexy ancient vampire with his own agenda, and you have the makings for a truly combustible series. Sign me up for the sequel!” (Romantic Times)

"Buffy and Spike for grown ups ?"

Sure it may be very 'Buffy & Spike' but that's not all bad. I liked this book! Loved the story, loved the characters and the concepts of this urban fantasy are awesome. But the big seller is the narrator - one of the best narrators i have ever heard. Ms Gilbert's narration sold me on getting the whole series and I have loved everyone.
Cheers :)

My obsession to Audible audiobooks started here.

This Supernatural and Urban Fantasy audiobook (series) is my very first and all time favorite a long long time ago (since 2013)

I really enjoy this 1st audiobook even until now, I really love listening into it again and again because of the unique love story of the characters and how well it was written by Jeaniene Frost, I love the humor, the action, the romance, the mysteries of this audiobook. Most of all, the narrator Tavia Gilbert. She is Perfect narrator of this series!

You will meet our half vampire and human named Cat. She thinks that all vampires are evil (There's a reason why...). Then she was captured by the Ancient vampire, slayer of evil vampires with English accent, He is British, He is Bones, He is Sexy. They have a good fight at the very first time they meet each other.

And then the story begins... and along the story is you will meet more vampires, ghost, ghoul and a lot more to explore. I want to have a Movie series of Night Huntress but until now, none.

TBH, it's okay because you know what, audiobooks series satisfied me.

What I love the most is the love story of Cat and Bones. Catherine Crawfield is Bones's kitten and luv.

Amazing

Once you can get past the bad cockney accent, (it grows on you) it’s a bloody great story, I’ve re-read/listened multiple times. (There are very few series I feel this way about) I am also not a vampire reader, this is the exception to the rule. Would absolutely recommend.

The first audiobook that I haven't slept through

I thought Tavia was so remarkable as Cat that I've chosen to ignore the appalling Cockney impersonation.
And although I originally laughed every time 'Bones' spoke, I eventually tuned out enough to pretend it was him. Male cockney can't be the easiest for an American woman to cover- but I think she gave it her best.

okay story, English accent was a little cringey

I appreciate the effort on the narrators part, I'm sure the accent wouldn't have been easy. it just make the intimate scenes a little funny.

Great book - bad audible version

Love this book but the audible version is disappointing...Bones' voice with the british accent is awful!!!

Amazing!

I LOVED this book and I will be immediately buying the next in the series.
Other reviewers complained about the narrators performance, and it's true that her rendition of the main male character's slum English accent isn't great, but you get used to it. In her defence, the rest of her performance is fabulous and had be welling up on a couple of occasions.
If you love vampire romance, erotica, action and an unpredictable storyline, this one is must.

Enjoyed the story. Struggled with the accent.

A male English accent for Female American narrator is pretty hard.High pitched and swerving from the East End of London to Bristol via many other cties I found it odd and effeminate. So it was really difficult for me to picture Bones as a sexy hero type. Enjoyed the plot but will read the books for this series instead. Probably easier for listeners who don't know what the accent should sound like.

Brilliant story - accent horrific

I loved the narration and characterisation other than the absolutely horrific cockney accent.
You want to imagine beautiful people and love, but the accent destroys that. Beg you to re-record without the accent please!
