About this listen

Six months in the Deep Dark. Four different women. One man discovers what it means to be a spacer.

It's a time of change on the Lois McKendrick. Sarah Krugg joins the crew, and Ishmael Wang moves to Environmental. After getting accustomed to life aboard a solar clipper, Ishmael must learn a whole new set of skills, face his own fears and doubts, and try to balance love and loss in the depths of space.

Both Ishmael and Sarah must learn to live by the mantra "trust Lois". For Sarah, there is the hope of escaping a horrifying past. For Ishmael, he must discover what type of man he wants to become and learn his choices have consequences.

Return with the crew of the SC Lois McKendrick, and set sail in the next installment of the Trader's Tales from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper. All your favorites return: Ish, Pip, Cookie, Brill, Diane, and Big Bad Bev. You might even discover some new friends as you travel among the stars.

I enjoyed Quarter Share, the first in the series, and immediately downloaded Half Share expecting more of the same. Unfortunately, Half Share almost completely ignores the original focus of the series (life aboard an interstellar trading ship) and instead focuses on the many women (completely unbelievably) swooning over the 18 year old protagonist. The language used is also incredibly repetitive with the same few phrases used so often that I have them memorised. Particularly painful was every female character repeatedly complimenting the protagonist with "You're good". Overall this reads like a self-insert fantasy for the author and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Disappointing Sequel

Really liked the first novel but this is bad, no story and lots of weird sexual tension between the main character and every female he meets. main character has turned into a 'Larry sue' good at everything he does without explanation. everyone loves him immediatly for no apparent reason, and aaaalll the women love him. only good things happen to him and there was a point in the story where the main character had the SAME EXACT CONVERSATION (with minor deviation) 3 TIMES, BACK TO BACK, WITH THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE. I was shouting at my car radio in frustration at the end of this novel. such a shame. I need to take a break before considering reading the next book.

came for sci fi, got weird romance novel.

Just awful. Reads like bad fanfiction. Got it for free and paid too much. Avoid.
