Publisher's Summary

My skill set brings all the girls to the yard.

And by yard, I mean the temple of a young goddess who's using me to build a fortified city around herself before the god of war can finish slaying every deity in the heavens.

He'd better not find us before we're ready. Spoiler: We're far from ready.

But hey, I get a cool skill out of it. The goddess allows me to view anyone's strength, vivacity, and other attributes as though they were numbers on a menu and then use their life experiences to make them stronger. I can unlock their special skills, too, and it's all stuff no one else can see.

Hence the girls: a beastkin builder, a negotiatrix made of slime, a half-elf gypsy who charms snakes - and more - seeking safe refuge and a place to belong.

Think our ragtag group can survive a divine onslaught of apocalyptic proportions? I know what I think. Come on in and find out.

Great New LITRPG Series!!!

Halcyon Rising: Breaking Ground, Book 1 is written by Stone Thomas. Mr. Thomas has written a story in the LITRPG style. The main character is Arden. A young man who is an orphan on his own in the forest until fate crosses his path with a minor goddess in need of saving. Then offered a chance to be her head priest he takes it and becomes a skill miester unlocking peoples skills to level them up. He needs to recruit people to help protect Nola his goddess and build her city. He meets Vix as a bestkin builder, Cindra a negotitrix made of slime, and Mamba a half-elf gypsy snake charmer. The story holds the listener's attention while balancing the different threads of world building. The harem aspect is part of the story but the city building is and character enhancement plays a much larger part of the story. The narration by Chris Graves was simply amazing in this fun new series. Mr. Graves gave another excellent vocal performance. Mr. Graves gave voices to the characters that were very memorable, especially Cindra with her smooth smoky alluring voice. When seeing Mr. Graves name attached to an audiobook I will now give the book a listen. Once again he did not disappoint his performances are consistently excellent. The publisher for this audiobook is Stone Thomas Productions. The production value is of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance. I did not hear any loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Very well done

I really love a good Litrpg and this book ticked all the boxes for me, In the way magic was handled and the world building aspect. The characters were brought to life by Chris Graves who once again does an excellent job in the performance. This is one of my favorite books in Litrpg and would recommend it to anyone even slightly interested in this type of book. I received a free copy of this audiobook in return for an unbiased review.

Good Fantasy LitRPG

Well written. Could easily pass for a Fantasy tale, if there was no reference to stats or level up and main character depicted as simply a magician! I’d recommend this story for ages 16 and older due to violence and adult situations. I was given this audiobook for free and I freely give my rating.

Great Start To A Series!!!

This actually on of the best Lit-RPG books I have listened to lately. The way the spells and skills are portray make it a Lit-Rpg, but it doesn't have the part where it is a person playing a game. Instead it puts characters you would find in a fantasy book, with main character having ability to train a level the other characters. Definitely an original idea and story. The narration was spot on. Good narration makes or breaks an audiobook, but great narration makes you want more. Definitely recommend you give it a listen. Way better than they had any right to be

** I received a free copy of this book for review purposes at my request, my review is voluntary and unbiased First off this is a gamelit/action/harem/light novel with kingdom building notes, so if that's not a genre you are open to you are in the wrong place. But if that is something you might be interested in this is a real good series. This is an excellent example of what gamelit harem can be. The female characters are all distinct and interesting and aren't just tools of the male fantasy that this genre is naturally evoking, but are all useful and unique, and surprisingly well written as people. That isn't to say they aren't hypersexualized. They absolutely are, and they should be in this genre, but they are sexualized in a mostly less creepy way than you might expect. The characters all feel like they have agency and control over themselves and our main character is never pushy or a creep, and as such he is rewarded with a bevy of gorgeous monster babes. The overarching story is very good so far, it deals a lot with gods and their clergy, a war of power and essentially this one guy who is in way over his head and just wants to keep his friends safe. It has some good twists and the story moves quickly and stays fun even when it's dealing with some of the heavier aspects of war, logistic, and love/lust and so on. Though this series is definitely a harem, it also feels a bit more like a polyamorous love story as the main character seems to have a personal connection with his partners instead of just being a fun sex toy. As this is gamelit it does have stats and charts and the like but they are low crunch and don't waste space acting as filler as many in the genre do. Chris Graves gives us some excellent performances throughout the books, he has excellent pacing and good characterization he gets some good accents and cadence changes in for various characters. I should make note. I got the first and second book together and listened to them back to back, so I am more reviewing both books at once than just the first book. I will note that the first book was a little short for my tastes but the second book is about twice as long so it evens out if you get both.

Great addition to the litrpg genre

This story has many game style atttributes without detracting from a strong story. Can't wait to start book 2. The characters are unique and enjoyable. I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

A great Story

This is a great read. The characters are very well developed giving the story a good story flow. It is easy to follow. I have read the authors books and the narrator does this story proud. From what I can remember from reading the book nothing has been left out. I would recommend this book as well as the authors other books. Your time is well spent reading/listening to all the author's other books.

Such a cool story

This book was super dope, and as always a perfect narrative performance by Chris. Love the concept of the MC having more options when it comes to power.

enjoyable if you know what you are going into.

Chris Graves did an excellent job first off.The voices were distinct and pleasant for each character. Some good parts were how the female characters had some interesting issues that really make you feel for them. The stats and method of progression was neat. It did feel a bit rushed for the development of the intimacy between the characters. Overall it's enjoyable not a masterpiece but fun. The Founding

Great story and narration! Our MC is a social outcast who through a rare turn of events becomes the high priest of a new goddess. This give him access to the rare skillmister skill (lets him help people spend their skill points). Armed with new skills and new friends, he must save those he cares about from a rampaging god of war. Easy, right? This one was fun! Note: This story is Haram Gamelit - this genera often contains explicit scenes

This is basically a D&D campaign in story format

If you are a big lover of D&D then you'll love this book! This is a fun and funny action/adventure themed book with some adult themes but nothing too blatant. The author does a good job with a variety of different voices as well. #audiobookobsessionreviewer

An Interesting Book

I had no idea what LitRPG was until I listened to this book. I must admit that it did not really appeal to me much at the beginning. But the more I listened the more I got into it. The story was paced just right that I was able to understand and follow the story - despite my ignorance in this genre. The narration was equally good and it made my listening time really enjoyable. I am looking forward to more of this series.

Great Harem

follows the MC can improve people trope with women throwing themselves at him... however that is where the mediocrity stops. the Story is greatly pace, well told with continually world building and character development. I was hooked from the start and wanted more when the book ended... Chris Graves does a wonderful job of giving the characters life and voices different enough that you are never in doubt of whom is speaking. I want more

Interesting New Listen

Being a fan of LitRPG I found this quite light on the stats and harem style but a nice starter for those who don't want to listen to a narrator state 100 stats every few pages. The sex is mostly tame or suggestive and is easy enough to follow without impacting the story too much. The storyline of a Temple waif made into a new Goddesses high priest due to a War God run amok and giving him the ability to control peoples stats as they cant do it themselves is quite a good premise. The characters are nicely written and as such you find yourself content to follow their life, the pace could be a bit faster and I feel like maybe another 50 to 100 pages( 1 hour) of content would of helped the story along a bit. Narration was quite clear ,concise and had good tones for easy listening as it suited the story's pace and tone. Overall this is a good start for 1st audio and in think would work well for a 2nd so 4.5stars overall a few elements needed but overall quite good. I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts for you to read.
