Publisher's Summary

Finalist for the 2023 AUDIE AWARDS® for Audio Drama and Fantasy

A brand-new full-cast audio production of Good Omens, the internationally beloved novel and collaboration by bestselling authors Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Starring Michael Sheen as Aziraphale, David Tennant as Crowley and Rebecca Front as the Narrator.

According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner.

So, the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan.

Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon - both of whom have lived amongst Earth's mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle - are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture.

And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist....

Don't miss Season 2 of Good Omens, coming soon to Amazon Prime Video.

Excellent recording of one of my favourite books

The book of Good Omens has been one of my faves since I first read it in the early 90s. The TV series is the best adaptation of a book I've ever seen. This recording is like as dream combination of the two - the book with all its delightfully understated quirkiness, beautifully narrated by Rebecca Front with David Tennant and Michael Sheen taking on Crowley and Aziraphale as they did in the series and supported by a full cast. It's bliss, because you get to hear these two actors who were so perfectly cast delivering lines that got sacrificed in the TV adaptation. The full version of the drunk scene at the bookshop alone is worthy of the purchase price.

An incredible story, told by an incredible cast.

I absolutely loved this book. If I had to describe it in one word, I would have to pick "fun".

We'll start with the characters. I loved this book's cast of characters and I immensely enjoyed following their stories. Aziraphale and Crowley specifically had to be the highlight for me; but reading along with the charming adventures of The Them, the relationship between Anathema and Newt and final ride of the 4 Horsemen (and The Other 4 Horsemen) was just absolute fun.

The witty writing and humour in this book kept me entertained the whole way through. The end left me feeling like all loose ends were neatly tied in a little bow. It was satisfying and made me realize how surprisingly emotionally invested I was in our characters.

Of course we have to talk about the cast reading this book to us as well, because they did a wonderful job.
-
The main narrator I found matched the tone and wit of the book perfectly. Hearing some of the lines in this book, spoken by such a "matter of fact" sounding voice was so oddly well fitting.

Our characters also had great casting, and it really gave me such an immersive experience. The cast fit ther roles perfectly, and it really helped me just get lost in the story.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a little bit of fun :)

Don't know what all the hype is about.

if I'm being perfectly honest I don't know why this book is so popular. I do enjoy the works of Neil and Terry but I found this story to be very dull, nothing really happens, the characters are flat and uninteresting and the stakes never feel real or threatening. it's weirdly complicated when it comes to random descriptions of things just very basic when it comes to the story line and characters.cast does a good job however.

Always sad when it finishes.

I have loved this book since I picked it up in the 1990’s. I have had about 4 copies; 2 stolen, one fell to bits after I dropped it in the bath and heaven knows if there were more but there is always one on my bookshelf… which may start off pristine but you couldn’t prove that by my copy … and I have 2 versions of the audiobook. I love this one. Michael Sheen and David Tennent are perfect and the ensemble cast are wonderful (shout out to Kobna Holdbrook-Smith who is always fabulous). Irreverent, funny and the best version of the end of the world…. Ever.

Very 90s British feel.

I enjoyed the book and humour, feels a bit dated by today's standard, but comfortable like an old friend. Great voice performances.

Great Narration

Loved listening to this, The cast was amazing, well written, a lovely spin off from the Omen novel. There are so many similarities, but a great take on the overall plot. An absolute must.

The performances are flawless and the voices fit the characters perfectly. The novel in itself is brilliant, but we already knew that.

Captivating, sharp and incredibly well acted (no surprises there). This story is a whirlwind of a tale! Upon first reading, it may seem that this story is a one to,e read, but I found myself returning to it in hard times.

Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and the cast slayed

I mean, it's Good Omens, what more can I say? All of the cast were awesome and I couldn't hope for more.

If you feel even slight need to read this (or listen to it), do it! It changes lives to the better.

That's the way to do it!!

A big thank you and kudos to Headline for this excellent new production of Good Omens.
Whatever voices you have in your head, work. When you have someone reading it then often, it doesn't.
This is the way all audio-books should be done: unabridged but with a cast so you don't get men who sound like women, women who sound like men and children who sound like adults pretending to be children-and a lot of silly voices.
It also means you can do away with all the 'Said XXX.' which can be very distracting sometimes. You have a natural conversation and you can tell who everyone is without exaggerated or silly voices.
They should be recorded like putting on a play. Assemble a cast, let them rehearse together and then do the production.
So often recordings clearly have been made on one run through because the intonation is wrong or the reader has started with the wrong accent and it's clear they only start to really get the characters after they are a fair way in. Having a troop also avoids those times where vocabulary just isn't up to pronunciation, and more people means more insight.
This is a brilliantly funny book and a big thanks once again to Headline for choosing a cast that really understands comedy.
You must have people that know how to deliver a funny line to get the best out of it.
Especially with comedy where there's a big difference between a reading and a performance.
A bad reading just kills all the comedy
I haven't got much to say about the book. It's beloved by so many people and so famous.
It's probably one of a kind. Wickedly funny, clever, challenging. Just a complete all round delight.
What a collaboration! Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. As Neil says in the preamble: a couple of mates having fun. Boy, does that come across! Just so much fun. But such beautifully crafted fun.
This is a production worthy of such a good book.
You don't necessarily need big names though, and there are literally thousands of good actors who could do a good job.
Please take note Penguin.

Fantastic performance of a favourite story

I have loved Good Omens since I first read it many, many, years ago. The recent TV production was good but I missed certain parts of the story (such as the other four motorcyclists of the apocalypse) so to find a full cast audio production was a joyful moment indeed. David Tennant and Michael Sheen as the voices of Crowley and Aziraphale are every bit as wonderful as they were in the TV version and the rest of the cast are fabulous too.
Highly recommended!

Nothing compared to the other adaptations

i was really, really excited about this, given how it features cast from the television show. However, it's full of production errors (repeating words, skipping/missing bits, etc) and poor performances (other-than Tennant). AVOID, unless you are a Good Omens completion, like I am.

Unexpectedly wonderful

I’ve loved Terry Pratchett novels for years but only recently heard of this and wasn’t quite sure. It’s marvellous— the storyline, the humour, the humanity and the performances. I will be listening again.
Edit: After listening to this I watched Good Omens on Prime and it is absolutely faithful to the book. Quite brilliant.
