Publisher's Summary

There are expectations of perfection you’ve been conditioned to believe in. You’ll never achieve this perfection, because you are perfectly human. Dr Rebecca Ray will help you understand that there is a workable alternative; somewhere between good and great, a ‘good enough’ that will support you in achieving your biggest dreams, healing the parts of you that hurt, and making the right choices for your best life.

Letting go of perfectionism requires us to transform these patterns of unrelenting expectations into an inner voice of encouragement and accountability. Alter your focus from outcome to process, from winning to trying, from comparison to what’s in alignment with your own path. Break free from the prison of perfectionism and embrace the ‘good enough’ for your self-worth, self-talk, habits, boundaries, and success.

Good, Great, Perfect will help you let go of the pressure to constantly be, have, and do more, but still achieve your goals. Dr Rebecca Ray, writer, speaker and clinical psychologist, has created a motivational and practical step-by-step guide for creating a great life by embracing good enough.

Taking comfort in making perfect the enemy of good

When I was younger I thought everything I did had to be perfect. Thankfully, over time I was able to let go of that terrible constraint. That journey would have been much easier if I had access to this audiobook.

Beck (as she calls herself) has a calm, reassuring way that makes it easy to listen to her. Four hours flew by as she explained the insidiousness of what perfectionism looks like, what it does to your self-worth, and how to be good with being good enough for yourself.

If you struggle with not being able to start something because you are overwhelmed, or get stuck while working from the anxiety of how "bad" it will be when you finish, give this a listen. It might help you to change the course of your life.

Dr Beck does it again

Want inspiration without the bullshit? Want practical self-help with a dash of poetry? Dr Rebecca Ray has done it again with yet another great audiobook for anyone wanting to be better (without being perfect). I'd love to say this is perfect, but in the spirit of Beck's message, I'll just say it's bloody great!

Nope

Sorry mate. I’m not dumb. Don’t bash me over the head with your explanation! Especially what the title of your book is about. It’s pretty straight forward. I’m out. And stop calling me lovely one. Bloody hell. Cheers.

Helpful thought reframing

This provides a good framework and practical tips for having more constructive behaviours than those driven by perfectionism. I like the idea of “good enough” and this actually helping you achieve more than always striving for perfect.

Short and encouraging

Pretty much the same stuff as in other books on overcoming perfectionism, low confidence, imposter syndrome, etc. But a good, short audiobook for someone just starting on self-exploration into these issues.

Very helpful

I appreciated the message in this book very much. Listening to it is like having a comforting friend speak to you very compassionately when you are being horrible to yourself. I plan on re-listening often.

So true, you don’t need to be perfect to recognize yourself, in this.

I’ve never seen my self as perfect, yet I’ve always been overly concentrating myself, to much.
It rings true. I’m not your perfectionism.

Exactly what I needed to hear

As a self proclaimed perfectionist, Dr. Rebecca Ray told me exactly what I needed to hear in the most gentle and encouraging way possible. I’ve come away from this book with a newfound desire to take action more fearlessly and put my work out into the world without silently judging myself. I’m always consuming Dr. Rebecca Ray’s books, but this one might be my new favorite!
