Irene Adler wird von Mycroft Holmes nach Wien geschickt, wo sie einen Mann namens Hans Gruber treffen soll. Doch als sie seine Wohnung erreicht, liegt der Mann tot auf der Straße. Gruber war einer Geheimorganisation auf der Spur, die offenbar eine große Sache plant. Auf dem Riesenrad kommt es zu einer dramatischen Auseinandersetzung. Dort fällt auch die Maske des Mörders, dem Irene ausgeliefert ist.
