About this listen
Seamus is facing life in prison without parole. While doing his time, he's given an option by the Department of Justice and the biggest virtual game maker around, Mindblown Entertainment. If he will help them test long-term immersion, he will get the chance to play the latest game from Mindblown - Alpha World. All he has to do is sign away his legal rights and sign an NDA.
He's the first gamer to be sentenced to life imprisonment in a virtual world. What could go wrong?

If you LOVE MMO' style stories then this will certainly get you hooked.
its Story line is simple, Nice to listen to and before you know your wanting more before you know it the book has ended.
Then you start to learn that the beginning location is just the tip of the ice.
I can't recommend enough.

Our main character is a man of honor who is driven to do a terrible deed and then accept the consequences. When offered a chance to improve the quality of life for injured and crippled people, he volunteers for experimental long use immersive pod therapy. This then is the story of he and a random group of players playing the game, not the story of the game play. The placement of the character sheet can be a little jarring, but other than that it is a good listen.
There is the consideration of what the difference between the real world and the game world, some fairly well written adult scenes that leave much to the imagination and a well realised game world.
He is not the hero of the story or a super powered character, or even has isikai knowledge, Oue main character is an everyman, just dealing with it one day at a time.
This is worth a second look

The depth in the characters -- the flaws that are present & the natural way that relationships form -- was refreshing.
The genre of LitRPG seems to be books about guys gaming & grinding, it's refreshing to see a book set in an MMORPG which is about the people and their personal development just as much as their character development.
Definitely a must read for anyone remotely interested in the LitRPG genre.
Fantastic

I enjoyed the beginning and the narration was great but the main character quickly becomes bland and vague with, ahem, 'Romance' taking the front seat far too often. Past about the first three chapters the various relationships between the male main character and the female characters drags the story down, Definitely feels like an MMO because it replicates the slow grind of next to nothing happening perfectly.
If you got nothing better to read and don't mind smut give it a shot otherwise you're not missing too much.
Excellent narration & concept, poor execution
