Publisher's Summary

Alpha Company is embarking on a grand mission, crossing the Dead Lands to find and conquer Gwain’s Keep. Led by Alburet, most of the guild embarks on what could be an epic and memorable journey, as they aim at being the first Two-souled guild to capture a keep.

Besides safeguarding the members of the guild, Alburet also has to worry about the natives that are with them on their journey. Deidre Crowley, Stacia’s sister, is the one he worries about most, having sworn to see her safely across the lifeless desolation of the Dead Lands.

Having to be ultra-vigilant during the day, night brings welcome relief and relaxation to the raid.

For Alburet, Karen, and Stacia, it also brings their chance to help Fluffball come to grips with her past.

Is that it?

Slightly 2much sexual & emotional content clouded the story line which could have had more than 1 objective..... Ie. Travel to keep... Conquer keep... End?

Dont be fooled

This is not a litrpg. This book is 60% cringy, clumsy attempts at erotica, 30% stories about abusive fathers and maybe 10% fantasy adventure. I couldnt finish this one. The "adventure" gets lost completely because it is sprinkled in sparingly in between sessions of daddy issue therapy and some garbage about the protagonist fighting the urge for a foursome.

if you are looking for adventure, go elsewhere

When there's action, it's great, otherwise... no

Most of the story was sex and mental health analysis of the main characters. it was very repetitive. walk for a day, party, sex, mental health, sleep, repeat... except 3/4 of each of the chapters for the day focused on that mental health and sex. I started this series for the action, so I ended up skipping the chapters that focused on it. the latter 1/4 of the book was amazing, finally getting back into the action.

Not a LitRPG any more and not worth the time

TLDR - this book isnt worth the time. It is possible that it gets better by the end but the first half is repetitive and dull. It is mostly focused on the other members of the main character's party trying to convince him that he should give up his principles that he should be loyal to one woman and form a harem. This is combined with painful psychobabble as thry party dives into the traumatic past of each member.

The narrator is great overall but some of the accents became grating as well.

Agree with others that the first two books in the series we're good but I will not be buying any more in this series.

The plot is becoming just whining.

This book is seriously just everyone whining about their childhoods. The MC's reason for ending up in prison and being in the game world has been dragged out too long already. This book was a sad attempt by the author to stretch out a minor event by filling the entire book with dream "my childhood anguish". The readers already know that the other players are all flawed. That they have suffered abuse and neglect in there lives. So an entire book filled with dream sequences of them reliving those moments, did not add or enhance the plot of the series. Nothing else happens in the book. Waste ofy time and sanity to have suffered thru.

I first thought the series was creative and novel. But after a few books you realize that the author is limited in his style and characters. I do not think I will waste my money to continue supporting this series.

Disappointing

Loved the 1st 3 books. Was really looking forward to listening to the 4th. And what a 4th it was. Less litrpg-more cheesy romance/sex, and that's pretty much it. I will not be finishing this series. Shame on the author for writing this nonsense. And then charging anyone for a book that's 90% Filler.

phychobabble

Author goes way off into boring phycology, mental health, snore. This slowed down the pace of the whole book with more of that crap then action and adventure. What a total let down this 4th book is. I am done reading any more.

dont do it.

no longer a litrpg. I've literally given 5 stars to everything I've read as I've really enjoyed audibles and the entire litrpg genre this however is not a litrpg anymore this is trash I skipped so much of the same repetitive sex scenes and nonsense memory diving just stop after book 3...at least that was partially decent or skip to chap 35 I guarantee you arnt missing anything.

No longer a LitRPG, now child abuse and porn

This was a fair LitRPG until the author decided to randomly give levels, Characters don't apply stat points, loot is barely mentioned. That being said we get to wade through child abuse and poorly written porn. I read LitRPG's not an authors sick sexual fantasies.

Frustrating

There is a fun story somewhere in there surrounded by a Texas ranch worth of Bull S....I think I abused the skip button so bad I cracked my phone screen. Technically I finished the whole book, but I probably only listened to 50% of it (the parts where they killed stuff and had an adventure.) I want a refund for the rest. I don't mind the sex or harem stuff, but this confused relationship stuff is a solid miss for me and almost ruined a good story. The narrator was great. I feel bad that he had to read the whole book though. Trim the fat and this is a great 6hr listen for the genre. I like the series overall and hope the next book sticks to the stabby stabby and leaves out the I'm confused about monogamy stuff that's been smothering it since book 3.

I like a character story as much as the person BUT

Now to start I loved the first 3 novels in the series, but this one...

I like a bit of character background and focus just as much as the next person, so at the start of the novel, it was nice to learn a bit about the characters. The problem is that it never ended. It got to the point when I could skip chapters and miss nothing about the actual story which I enjoyed, instead, I got some well written, but unwanted s&m content that didn't end.

You would expect a story to be at least 80% story and maybe 20% character... not the other way round (if that).

In total very repetitive and boring with the interesting parts being far and few.

What A Shame

Series started well but has got toxic

The toxic male s&m sex fantasy takes up more of the book than the adventure.

Too focused on erotica

Compared with the previous books in this series, far too much of the story is based on polygamy. Questionable at that, unless later books point out a sinister goal behind the AI programming, because as it stands, more than half of this book is people getting involved in sexual situations immediately after confronting very painful memories. There was very little continuation of plot compared to the previous books, and whilst we do start to get a better understanding of the main characters backgrounds, instead of that being interspersed between plot, it's between rather creepy sexual encounters. The journey to the Keep itself is barely touched upon by comparison, and only the last 2 hours of the book really push anything regarding the world's plot.

I didn't hate it, but the balance in this book was very different to the previous ones, and I have to say, I found the (to me at least) obvious manipulation of people in a vulnerable state to be a little unnerving. More so because there was no hint that it was intentional.
