Story
Two hundred years ago, aliens invaded Earth. A violent war followed. The enemy won. Some of us escaped, most of us didn’t. On Proxima they flourished - the invasion forgotten. On Earth we floundered - the horror began. Their world is advanced, peaceful, and secure. Our world is broken, savage, and overrun. A new invasion is coming. A hunger that has swallowed half the universe. They don’t care which planet we live on. They want to end us all. But where there is life, there is hope. And where there is hope, there are heroes. This time, vengeance will be ours.

Publisher's Summary
Contains Galactic Law and Galactic Judge, books one and two of the Galactic Law series.
Lethal force is authorized.
In the wild space of the Deadlands, Taurus Station is where miners and tourists come to play, and the ravager gangs follow close behind. Out here, far from the civilized world, the Law has a name.
Gage Walker is the son of hard-nosed asteroid miners. Brash, rough, and crude, he's one of the few deputies working the station.
Still a rookie, Walker is tasked with the security of a mining magnate's daughter, an easy job that quickly takes a turn for the worst.
The ravager gangs want her, and it falls to Walker to find out why.
In a chase across Taurus Station, Deputy Walker must prove he's fit to wear the badge and issue his own form of justice...one body at a time.
Experience this exciting beginning to a brand new series set in the Renegade Star universe. If you're a fan of Judge Dredd, Renegade Star, or Borderlands, you'll love this epic sci-fi thriller.

Space Cops!
Chaney and Aaron tell an entertaining tale of a sort of space western, deputies and sheriffs with space battles and faster than light travel.
The stage is set on a space station on the outside edge of civilised space. On the edge of the deadlands. A lawless area of space teeming with space pirates and scavenger gangs. We follow new recruit Guage Walker as he works his way through an action packed mission to unravel a mystery that isn't all it seems.

Chaney is a master
The Renegade Universe expands even further with this story. I think what I like the most about these books is that each series stands on its own while still adding to the greater whole. You can jump in anywhere and it doesn't matter. For example, Galactic Law picks up several years before the other series, but you could read this first or last. Doesn't matter. It does a fantastic job of re-introducing characters from the other series and giving new and exciting backstory, like with Fratley, which I greatly appreciate.
The audio here is really good. I've never heard of Tom Talyorson but his take on the books is great. He's got the right voice for Walker and makes the story breeze by.
Also, two books for one credit is a steal! I like how Chaney does that with his stuff. He could just release them as single books, but this is a solid deal for those of us on a budget. If you haven't explored the Chaney-verse, this is a great place to start. I also recommend the main series "Renegade Star" as well as "Nameless."

Pretty Good Space Cop Drama
It took me a while to get here, but I've ended up putting this audiobook in my 'I'm going to keep this, I may well listen to it again' category. So -- that's a first bit of positive feedback.
In this title you get an extremely straight laced young policeman, living on a space station, hopping into a couple of cases that bring him into exposure to some pretty high level crimes. You end up with a bunch of gun battles, a couple of space battles, some rescues, and discovery of something of a multi-system conspiracy.
We're not getting deep character development, not humor, not reflection. No, this is a straight crime investigation and combat genre. The title probably should clue you in.
I won't describe this as my preferred genre or writing style (which perhaps biases me towards 3 stars), but looking back at things I'm liking the characters and plot enough that I'll probably look to see if another publisher's pack shows up in the future.
It's a decent listen.

Galactic Law
This is another excellent offering from J.N. Chaney and James S Aaron, a tremendous Sci/Fi writer in his own right and new collaborator with Chaney. It has a thoughtful storyline, fleshed out characters, and is peripherally associated with the Renegade universe for fans of the Renegade Star series. You can’t go wrong with the first two books and it’s a great value at two books for one credit.
