About this listen

Alexis thought her life contained everything she wanted, until her partner of five years drops a bombshell on her.

Catherine is an accomplished neurosurgeon looking for a fresh start in a new city.

A chance meeting between the two imprints the doctor in Alexis's mind, with thoughts of Catherine pushing to the forefront months after they meet. When life places the pair in the same city, Alexis is unable to deny her attraction to Catherine. As the pair become closer, Alexis finds herself falling for Catherine, despite knowing that her feelings will never be reciprocated. Can the pair navigate through life and maintain their friendship, or does fate have something else in store?

Contains mature themes.

I can understand some people being turned off by the coolness of one of the narrators and the fact that for 4/5 of the book there’s no love scenes. But after a while the narration of the surgeon gave the character the extra depth of what I took to be on the spectrum. There was sexual tension in spades and it made the characters more loveable. But the when these 2 girls finally admit their feelings (spoiler alert) every sexual fantasy falls out of the box in what felt like all-you-can-eat buffet that belonged to a different story all together.
I loved the 2 narrators and where they were going. Until they went to lesbian Disney. Sooooo close and yet….

For a while there I thought this may be the best lesbian fiction yet

Disliked the voice of Catherine. I found it grating and un sexy. It also doesn’t match her profession. .

The setting in hospital etc

I loved Felicity Munroe as Alex. But I really felt that the narration from Emily Beresford was bland and monotone.

As the book progressed, both narrators did a better job and I got used to it. Perhaps Im spoilt for choice after coming from an Abby Craden/Lori Prince world.

I enjoyed the slow burn romance story. There was some jealousy, some confusion, uncertainty and some steamy scenes.

My only complaint is that the lack of communication between the two was drawn out a little too long, and at some points made no sense. But then that was rectified later on in the book when Catherine starts to open up. If I could turn back time, I probably would have just read the book instead of listening to the narrators. And I've bought book2 on Kindle just to avoid being dissapointed by the voices.

Sexy and angsty

This book is narrated by two persons, Felicity Munroe who played (Alexis) did a good job.
Emily Beresford who read (Catherine), she came across as monotone, boring and sounded like she was my grandmother.
Its a very slow burn for 75% of the book then heats right up.

It could have been much better if read entirely by Felicity Munroe. (Better still Abby Craden).

I definitely won't read the second book in this series as its read entirely by Emily Beresford.

Book 3 is read be Abby Craden, so I will defiantly read that one!

Could have been so much better

The narration distracted from the story line. Too distracting to continue as I was waiting for the next voice.

Not this time

Can't get past the narators voices! Both sound very digital, which is a shame as I couldn't push through to give the book a proper review

DNF - Narator sounds like a robot
