'A read-it-in-one-sitting thriller' Erin Kelly
'Intriguing . . . Compulsive' Louise Candlish
'Twisty and gripping' Emma Kavanagh

Maria Weston wants to be friends with me.

Maybe that had been the problem all along: Maria Weston had wanted to be friends with me, but I let her down.

She's been hovering at the edge of my consciousness for all of my adult life, although I've been good at keeping her out, just a blurred shadow in the corner of my eye, almost but not quite out of sight.

Maria Weston wants to be friends.

But Maria Weston has been dead for more than twenty-five years.©2017 Laura Marshall

This was recommended on Marian Keyes' vlog and it's easy to see why. It's a beautifully written gripping story.

Funny moment in the story where the presenter clears her throats and repeats her line. Missed the edit cut ;)

As a whole I did enjoy this book very much. I was anticipating a different scenario than what I got in the end but it was an interesting surprise in its simplicity. My only negative comment is the below:

Imagine you are a mother living with your child (no husband). You hear a sound in the middle of the night and think someone is in the house. What’s the first thing you do? Check your child’s room to see if they are ok? Not in this book. The woman checks all the rooms first leaving the child bedroom for last. Why on earth, who does that? I am not a mother but that's the first thing I would do. This is the only moment in the book that didn't make sense to me.

I would recommend this book for sure. The narration was excellent portraying perfectly the age of the characters.

An enjoyable book
