सिगमंड फ्रायड का जन्म 6 मई 1856 को आस्ट्रिया में हुआ था। 'ए जनरल इंट्रोडक्शन टु साइको-अनालिसिस' उनका एक क्लासिक ग्रन्थ माना जाता है,जिसका प्रामाणिक अनुवाद यह पुस्तक है। इसके अतिरिक्त सिगमंड ने 'एन इंटरप्रिटेशन ऑफ ड्रीम्स' तथा 'सिविलाइजेशन एंड इट्स कंटेंट' जैसी महत्वपूर्ण पुस्तकें भी दी हैं जिनसे मनुस्य के यौन व्यवहार तथा उसके सपनों की व्याख्या की जा सकी है।
नई सदी के मनोवैज्ञानिक अब आगे सिगमंड फ्रायड के सिद्धांतों पर काम कर रहे हैं।
