Publisher's Summary

The first daughter is for the throne.

The second daughter is for the wolf.

Hannah Whitten's debut For the Wolf was an instant New York Times best seller and word-of-mouth phenomenon. Now, the eagerly awaited sequel, For the Throne, concludes her brilliant dark tale of love, magic and the secrets written in the stars.

Red and the Wolf have finally contained the threat of the Five Kings, but at a steep cost. Red's beloved sister—Neve, the First Daughter—is lost in the Shadowlands. But Neve has an ally, even if it's one she'd rather never speak to again—the rogue king Solmir. Together they must journey across a dangerous landscape to find the mysterious Heart Tree—and finally claim the gods' dark, twisted powers for themselves.

loved it wish there was more

I really enjoyed this book. I admit her voice often lulled me to sleep but after that happened a few time i hit tumer and always rewound to where i had drifted off.

i felt like the ending was quick and i would have loved to know what happened afterwards, even if it was a few chapters. Did the wold age normally, or did all those years suddenly catch up on him.

Highly recommend!

If you like fantasy, fairytales, magic and kind of beauty and the best style. Then you will love this Duology. The narration was great although I feel like the King's sounded a bit weird but it still worked. They just sounded creepy haha.
This is a nice Duology, it's got 0.5/5 spice and romance 2/5. It's more a magical adventure fairy tale. It's more about two sisters and their story. I do wish there was another book though. I just want to know more about certain characters. No it's not a cut off ending it's just I wish there was a bit more. Even a 2.5 book about the eldest sister and what happens after everything.
Highly recommend!

Lots of travelling, above and below ground

Red and the Wolf become stronger together.
Neve in her efforts to find Red, gets involved in a religious sect that is trying to resurrect the five Kings.
The sect uses the magic of the trees.
Neve falls into the Shadowlands.
It is Solmir, the youngest king, who helps her solve the mystery and find her way out.
The twins unite their power at the Heart Tree, which blocks the kings and reduces the magical forest to just a forest.

Unsatisfying end to a good series

I was so excited to read this after loving the first book, but sadly the plot felt really drawn out at the start and then rushed at the end. I wish we’d spent less time travelling and more time exploring the characters’ growth at the end!
