Story
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look is more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Story
I thought the hard part of helping the Helta defeat the rampaging Tevynians would be the fighting. How wrong I was. To the Helta, we Earthers look just like the Tevynians, their mortal enemies. And convincing their government to ally with humans may be even beyond the crew of the starship James Bowie. But the clock is ticking, because the Tevynian fleet is bearing down on the Helta homeworld. If we can’t talk the Helta into accepting our help to fight them off, then Helta Prime will fall.... And Earth will be next.

Military sci-fi & Travis S. Taylor fans Must read
I love military sci-fi!! This story is intriguing with the different world & species descriptions. It's like an elite Seal team in space. The narrator in my opinion, didn't do the story justice. I pushed on because I couldn't blame the author. Seven-of-nine could've read it with more feeling (Star Trek geek am I).
This team is sent on a mission to seek & destroy a deadly, possibly 'invisible' device only to find once on planet that something is very wrong and they have an enemy among them(no spoilers).
I can't wait for next installment!

Their mission will be more difficult than they expect
Fast and exciting. I enjoyed the characters and found the story extremely well put together and interesting. Enough twists and turns to really change the story from what I thought it was going to be into what it was. Eagerly awaiting the next story in the series.
Narration was clear and easy to follow. Much more to this story than first appears.

Great Surprise Ending
I’ve enjoyed Rachel Ford’s Time Traveling Tax Man series and was happy to give this new series a try. It’s very different than the other one, but doesn’t disappoint. In Flesh Eaters, the Fords focus on a covert military mission to a world belonging to terrorist flesh eaters to recover a secret weapon the terrorists had been developing to use against the Empire. This weapon is so powerful that the flesh eaters accidentally ravaged their own world with it destroying Empire civilian diplomats in the process. Now the Empire has deemed it a top priority to destroy that weapon before it can be turned on other planets.
The military team is well drawn and it is certainly exciting as they get whittled down trying to carry out their mission. The Empire they serve sounds extremely authoritarian which builds some sympathy for the terrorists even as the authors keep us worried about the soldiers. As so often happens in this style of book, everything goes to hell and hidden agendas begin to appear, which adds substantially to the tension of the novel, The final chapter was worth reading the whole book for. I look forward to finding out what the Fords have in store for our heroes next.
I received this book from Free Audiobook Codes.com in exchange for an honest review.

Short story that keeps you guessing
This is a short story based on alternate universe's and different species, it was a fun listen and kept me interested. There was some information about the different species and enough background information on the main characters to give you some insight into them and to want to know what happens to them. There is an element of feeling like you're kept guessing about what the real mission is and this brings some depth to the story.
Overall this is an easy quick listen, with a bit of a twist which keeps your attention.

Surprising
This book covers a mission to recover and destroy the research facility on a planet that had been destroyed by the Empire. It involves a special team and in addition a reporter.
The story is decent and builds to a really surprising ending. The down side is that the narrator has some really squeaky nasal sounds for some of the characters that is very distracting and makes it hard to follow the story line.
