The colonies of the Faustian Chain have gone dark.

No star freighters have come from the star cluster for many years. Captain Bill Gorman, a smuggler on the Fringe, is one of the few who know the truth. A bit too predictable

I count B.V. Larson as one of my top 3 SciFi Space Opera authors and seldom experience anything but full enjoyment in his series. With that said, while Star Runner Book 1 was again an interesting start of a new series, Book 2 was a bit of a letdown. All of the MCs continued to play their roles well but they were lacking in much depth. Even the Baron's back-stabbing ways had little intrigue to them.

I plan to purchase the next book in the series since it holds the promise of moving the story in a completely new direction and am hopeful that it proves to do so.

As to be expected, Mark Boyett's performance was well done.

Bad story and just a repeat of the first book

I have been looking forward to this book but it was so bad that I stopped halfway thru. The first book was fun and new but this was a poor and boring storyline and just not to my liking.

The editing sucks.

Overall the book is ok. I got annoyed at a few parts where the story didn't line up. At one point the main character says he returned to his ship and talks about how his crew didn't like his guest. Then the next line they are back on the other ship. The main character goes back to his own ship again and the crew freaks out because he is hurt. There's multiple instances where the continuity of things is messed up or something will be stated and then changed or ignored. It's just sloppy in my opinion I expected better.

Great book despite the negative reviews

I'm a huge fan of B.V. Larson/ Mark Boyett duo. This book is just as exciting as the other books/series. I'm looking forward to Book 3. Mark Boyett nailed it again. His ability to differentiate characters is second to none. Larson can continue writing these stories over and over again. I'll read/listen :) to every one of them. I'm not sure what other reviewers are expecting in this genre. It's not a 40 hour book in a 12 book series.

Just okay

I have really enjoyed the author's other books but this series and especially this book have fallen flat. The secondary characters are far more interesting than the lead character. I actually found myself getting a little bored and looking forward to it being over towards the end of the book. Book is lacking in humor and the lead character is very one-dimensional.

Another amazing addition to a new series.

loving this new series with the first two episodes, the new characters adding in this book have been amazing and I look forward to exploring them more with further books.

I struggle to like the character of Rose but not because of the writing, just because of how out of place she is. I feel this was intended and I do enjoy the addition.

Mark Boyett as usual is amazing, over half of my library is filled with his performances and I can't pick apart anything he does. The B V Larson and Mark combination is perfect and I really enjoy it.

Always a good listen.

The A Team are back and excellent as always. Just wish he’d write his books a bit quicker 😁👍🏻
