Publisher's Summary

Creativity is not optional.

With her acclaimed New York Times best seller (and Reese's Book Club pick) Fair Play, Eve Rodsky ignited a national conversation about greater equity in the home. But she soon realised that even when the domestic workload becomes more balanced, people still report something missing in their lives - that is, unless they prioritize and devote time for activities that not only fill their calendars but also unleash their creativity.

Rodsky calls this vital time Unicorn Space - the active and open pursuit of creative self-expression in any form that makes you uniquely you. To help listeners embrace all the unlikely, surprising, and delightful places where their own Unicorn Space may be found, she speaks with trailblazers, thought leaders, academics and countless others who have discovered theirs everywhere - from activism to artistic endeavors to second careers.

Rodsky reveals what researchers already know: Creativity is not optional. It's essential. Though most of us need to remind ourselves how and where to find it. With her trademark mix of research-based how-to advice and big-picture inspirational thinking, Rodsky shows you a clear path to reclaim your permission to have fun, manifest your own Unicorn Space in an already too-busy life and unleash your special gifts and talents into the world.

Don’t bother if you’re single.

I made it most of the way through chapter 6. So far it’s fairly irrelevant unless you have a partner who is willing to negotiate and facilitate your getting time for unicorn practices. Maybe it gets better but I’m over listening to ways to communicate with your partner and negotiate time with them. Unicorn time is great, and I’m all for it, but as time is limited I’d rather spend it listening to something more relevant to me.

impulse buy originally loved it to bits

I loved the thought of unicorn space buying it because of the title on impulse. The hard copy was the impulse the audio version was a target purchase so I could really get into it. I originally thought unicorn space was going to be a fluffy journey into creativity. How wrong I was and it challenged me, got me excited, has seen me having conversations about self care, self time and what feeds our souls and going for it. Thankyou for writing this book and shaking me into action.
