Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The secret to productivity isn't discipline. It's joy.

We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there's another way?

Dr Ali Abdaal - the world's most-followed productivity expert - has uncovered an easier, happier path to success. Drawing on decades of psychological research, he has found that the secret to productivity and success isn't grind - it's feeling good. If you can make your work feel good, then productivity takes care of itself.

In this revolutionary book, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden 'energisers' that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three 'blockers' we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three 'sustainers' that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfilment. He recounts the inspiring stories of founders, Olympians, and Nobel-winning scientists who embody the principles of Feel-Good Productivity. And he introduces the simple, actionable changes that you can use to achieve more and live better, starting today.

Armed with Ali's insights, you won't just accomplish more. You'll feel happier and more fulfilled along the way.

Critic Reviews

Ali is the master of productivity. Nobody has a talent for distilling complicated ideas into fun, accessible and actionable insights quite like him. (STEVEN BARTLETT, creator of Diary of a CEO)
Ali is the absolute master on how to be productive without sacrificing your own happiness. This is the book we've all been waiting for. (Dr Julie Smith, author of Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?)
In this eye-opening and important new book, Ali Abdaal flips the conventional narrative on productivity: accomplishing important things is not about creating more efficient systems but instead about cultivating a deeper energy for your work. This really got me thinking! (Professor CAL NEWPORT, Georgetown University, author of Deep Work and Digital Minimalism)

a “positive psychology” approach to an introspective experience - a catalyst for enthusiastic motivation

Personable, humorous and intriguing. I have ADHD and this is the first self-help book I have ever connected with on such a level. I could be biased, having studied psychology throughout my tertiary education, but this book was everything & more. A self-help book that enables a captivating experience of learning and application in daily life. Ali presents an array of well known and niche studies alongside creative and mellowed down examples for the every day listener or reader. Ali’s application of these studies into listeners or readers lives is also impeccably done. Half way through listening to this book, I ran out and purchased the hard copy to annotate and study, hoping to apply some of the explored concepts and perspectives into my everyday life and career in mental health rehabilitation.

Play at 90% 🤣

The book is awesome but I found Ali spoke too fast to take it all in (even though I normally listen to books/podcasts sped up).
Dial him back to 90% to get the most of his charming English accent and maximum time to soak in his life changing ideas!

Enjoyably digestible.

I read a lot of personal development books and after a while they all start to sound the same. This book however is a breath of fresh air. The narration is an easy listen and the info / advice is digestible and sound. I'll be recommending this one to friends.

Outstanding

Review of Ali Abdaal's Book "Feel Good Productivity":

I've just finished Ali Abdaal's latest book, "Feel Good Productivity," and I'm buzzing with newfound insights. Ali's knack for storytelling and practical examples makes this book a gem. Over the past year, I've soaked up a ton of wisdom from Ali, and this book feels like a natural extension of that journey.

His writing style just clicks for me, offering up ideas and approaches that feel tailor-made. I've already earmarked it for a repeat read because I know there's more to uncover with each pass.

"Feel Good Productivity" isn't your run-of-the-mill productivity book; it's like having a productive chat with a friend who just gets it. Whether you're a productivity newbie or a seasoned pro, Ali's book is definitely worth diving into.

Perspectives Change

I wasn't drawn to Ali initially. For no other reason than his content didn't really fit my demographic, early retired, older(ish) guy who is comfortable in life and very grateful for it all. But I enjoy productivity content, and when I'd seen some interviews with Ali by others in the field or similar, I took another look and there is so much value in this book for anyone stuck in life generally. Not possible to be what I've arrived at and feel unfulfilled? It happens, but this young doctopreneur may have a solution, even for me, this late in life. Thanks Ali

A delightful feel-good book!

Like many who will buy this book, I have been following Ali on Youtube for years watching his journey through being a junior medical doctor to going full-time YouTuber, writer and creator. For those who aren't familiar with Ali, you're in for a real treat. He's a good egg, the real deal, and the book is absolutely delightful to listen to. It is warm, nerdy and funny and full of his genuine personality. While it's called "productivity" the content isn't about being productive or efficient. It's about understanding yourself as a human, flaws and all. It's about getting your head unstuck so you can do the things you're passionate about. It's about connection and clarity. I'm sure the physical book is great, but the audiobook is just perfect. Thanks Ali, you did a great job on this recording! I will absolutely listen again.
