Riveting
As usual Joy Ellis has written a book with high drama and many twists and turns. As with all her preceding books in this series it comes with a sensational story and the narrator is full of life.

A psychological puzzle for detectives ,
A puzzle for detectives ,that sends clever men and women ,searching the fens for a killer .The mind is a jumble of ideas ,what is real ?and what is not? Who to believe? What drives a quiet gentle young man to kill ?Are mysterious tree and nature spirits crying for revenge ? ……….this is a fantastic story that keeps the reader guessing rite to the end.

The story from Joy Ellis was superb as always however the narration wasn’t up to the standard I expected, having a jarring and often stilted quality to it.

DI Galena fan
I really love the characters in this series. Nikki Galena, Joseph Easter et al and all the others that Joy Ellis has written in from her other major characters and their teams.
BUT having listened to (for example) Richard Armitage and hoping as the Fens series has progressed that this narrator would be replaced, it hasn’t happened.
Unfortunately this narrator has a slight lisp, and with that so do all the characters. Many are locals from birth but the accent is not carried through.
All are read with a very forceful if not aggressive tone, when mostly not appropriate to the conversation/subject line.
I really enjoy this series as with Joy Ellis’s others but it is ruined by this narrator.

Another great book
I’ve been enjoying this series from the start. Another surprise ending but I loved the journey as the story evolved. I love the narrator and I’m surprised by other peoples reviews. I’ve realised all you can do is to listen to the sample before purchasing to decide if a narrator is right for you.
I love how Joy Ellis’ character’s from her other series are incorporated into the story.
I’ve been binging the series.

another great book
of your a fan of the fens series then this is just as good as the others lot's of your favourite characters and as usual a complicated crime to solve.
I love that the same narrator records this entire series
