About this listen

Don’t miss the eagerly anticipated epic new fantasy from Christopher Paolini—Murtagh!

A new adventure hatches in Book One of the Inheritance Cycle, perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings! This New York Times bestselling series has sold over 40 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.

"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity." —The Washington Post

When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.©2003 Christopher Paolini; (P)2002 Random House, Inc., Random House Audio, a division of Random House, Inc.

love this book and love the way Gerard Doyle reads it. I agree with most other reviews though, Saphira's voice is awful. love the way he voices every other character but the depiction of Saphira just doesn't work. I did enjoy the performance but that one part does ruin it for me

Dragon voice is awful but overall great story

I love this story so much but the narrator sucks, speaks to fast for the expletive and then normal for the spoken parts. then as others have stated what's with saphiras voice. makes me not want to get the rest of the series... but I probably will because I don't have enough time to read these days

what's with this narrator

Book is a great adventure and generally beautifully written the narrative is very well interpreted, EXCEPT the voice of the dragon ( and Wier cat) which though is responds to the book’s description of a deep grinding sound sounds like Yoda wth a throat cold. It has clear attitude but It lacks the femininity and languidness you imagine when reading. Still the reading carries the book very well and all the other characters are very effective.

Brilliant book with reading that is very good with one big flaw

The world building is so subtle and downright in your face some times, it's just a good balance between characters and morals and gahh I love it.

Enthralling 📚
