Wish it was longer!

Very direct and to the point. Enlightening! This book really needs to be expanded with more examples of manipulation (such as the detailed list of invalidating statements) along with ways to counteract each manipulation tactic.

Very Useful if You Had Controlling Parents Me

I bought this book to see why I kept ending up in one-sided relationships. I had a lot of healing to do which started with Co-Dependent No More and continued to this book where I learned a person who habitually lies is a manipulator. A person who invalidates how you feel when they are constantly saying hurtful things may have a personality disorder and is a manipulator.

Putting you down is never for your good. My dad is this way. So, by default I invalidated my own feelings in relationships. No more. Get rid of the liars in your life, and build your self-care and self-love routines so you can tell them you don't want or need them around.

This is a great book for anyone that wants to learn to protect themselves against manipulates. It actually shows strategies used and you can actually use it as a mirror to look at your current relationships and to help protect your heart against people that are capable of hurting it.

This book can change your life!

After more than a year of psychotherapy I still didn't know why I felt so insecure with my boyfriend of four years. It seemed like I was sabotaging the relationship, and I couldn't stop no matter how hard I tried. I was having emotional meltdowns I couldn't explain and I felt like I couldn't trust him. My therapist said I had an insecure attachment style but that didn't feel right because I'd never been that way before. I began searching for an answer that made sense and I stumbled upon this book, thank God, because the truth of the matter was revealed: my boyfriend was using just about every manipulation tactic in this book on me. I felt immediate relief and a sense of peace because I learned I wasn't crazy---my emotions were being manipulated. Now I'm free, and I can't thank the author enough! If you're feeling perplexed by the problems in your relationship, get this book. It can change your life.

Helps One Understand

And realize that you’re not the only one..or crazy. Emotional manipulation is a form of abuse, it says. True.

Basic, yet key, tenets to living with people

An excellent self-check and re-calibration to evaluating your feelings to the behavior to others. Questions to ask yourself when you are troubled in a relationship. It is all part of the tool box of living with others in relationship.

I was in a very confusing, controlling

I was in a very confusing, controlling and abusive marriage, prior to that, I had the same type of maternal parent (only she was more diabolical, may she RIP). So, even a child/adolescent would benefit from reading this book. When an employer's main focus was to get me to disclose issues in my personal life and then, she began to focus negatively on my personal choices, (non-work related), (due to my previous experiences), I was able to walk away before she could professionally cause harm. If I had listen this book, I would have recognized the warning signs that I ignored during the interview and would have refused the position. I am happy to get this book. Thanks to the author

Successful

Therefore, we can see how it could happen in our life and we can know how to solve it. The book is really great with the friendly direction which easily convinces me to apply in my life. In fact, I think that those who want to be successful need to control.

As for the author stating

As for the author stating that manipulation isn't necessarily a bad thing and that it happens everywhere starting with the way we dress. That's something I understood a while ago so this book really drove the point home for me.

Awesome book!

This book gets straight to the point. It tells you what manipulation is, who manipulates, why they do it and how to defend yourself. Stop manipulators in their tracks! I would listen more from this writer.
