I originally read this on Royal Road, and thought it an awesome book then. I have just finished listening to it and loved the reminder of where the story began, and how young the MC truly is. The narrator does a credible job of storytelling. Looking forward to the remaining books in audio!

Incredibly slow, the entire story is about a 7 year old Mary Sue that gets all handed to him. Nothing really happens? a couple troups but I didn't feel like there was a point to 3/4 of the story. won't be buying the next one but I hope it gets better for the listeners that will continue with the series

Not a huge amount happens. The main character is likeable enough, overall the story isn’t bad, but there wasn’t really any complication or climax.

This story resembles the classic reincarnation isekai with a heavy influence of realism, and effectively no 1 dimensional characters. Amazing character design, development, and portrayal, and excellent world building. Not every story needs an insane warmongering demon king.

The story was interesting with a unique world and plenty of things happening as the story progressed. The main character was likeable, and the secondary characters believable and interesting. Can't wait to listen to the next in the series.

book sucks no character agency, bland horrible world of unending trauma and exploitation. magic sucks, characters all suck the worldbuilding sucks the worlds fantasy aspects are completely overwritten by the fucking horrible colonial setting, its like reading a text book about a sick child getting isekaied into hell. horrible things happening is not character progression if the character makes no decisions has no agency and has no growth.
