I have been working my way through Rick Partlow's back catalogue in Audible. Not a one of his books is a dud. The worlds are beautifully built. The tech is believable/logical. The protagonists are real people put into extraordinary situations and doing the best they can. The antagonists are convincingly loathesome. The Duty, Honour, Planet trilogy has some very nice twists. I cried, I rejoiced, I was anxious during battles.
I cannot recommend this trilogy more highly.

Rick Partlow writes exceptionally good sci-fi

The author's other series set a pretty high bar for crisp, plausible and sci-fi war stories His protagonists felt real, and grew book by book. And the military strategies were sound, even if the alien enemies were less than wise at times.


Alas, I was a tad disappointed by the first book in this series, struggling to get any attachment to the thevpplotline of characters. And "a few good soldiers save the entire Earth" is just... well... a dodgy movie script.

It is not a bad book. It is well written and expertly narrated. It would make a great Netflix feature.
