Publisher's Summary

Diana Gabaldon's fans will be delighted to find Jamie and Claire as spirited and endearing as ever in this fourth installment of this magnificent saga. Romance, history, and time travel blend once again as the couple builds a new life together in the wilderness of pre-Revolutionary America.

Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time, 20 years later, she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

Davina Porter's narrative talent adds a special vibrance and resonance to Gabaldon's complex, colorful characters. If you've experienced Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, or Voyager, you already know the length of the book is deceptive. None of them is nearly long enough.

Another great book in the series

Loved this book! A good blend of 18th and 20th century settings with wonderful character development and more adventures with Jamie and Claire...

Hmmm

Love the series overall but I found this story a bit ho-hum. I am not a fan of the Roger/Bre story as I find them weak characters. Davina does a great reading as always. The biggest thing that erks me is the timeline. Diana seems to miss big chunks of the year which I find distracting as I'm trying to remember the last date given and missing the story!

Only halfway through.

I can't imagine what 4 more books will bring. Wish the filming would catch up.

Stick with it.

It is a little slower than some of the other books, however a great and vital part of the story.
I listened to it in stages, with a few shorter books inbetween.
It had me in tears of joy and heart break, excited and full of love.
As alway Davina Porter narrates it perfectly, she deserves an award!

Sensation

Fantastic. A story so neatly wove. Loved the way the Lairdliness of Jamie was allowed expression in a new and unique way in the end, at the gathering. And I loved the way the gathering held at the end nice symmetry.
I am reading the books after seeing the Netflix Outlander series. It is intriguing to contemplate the similarities and the differences. Great job
