About this listen

An oathbreaker paladin. An angel with a dark secret. An unexpected partnership to restore a shattered world.

Centuries ago, a cabal of powerful mages cast a disastrous spell that corrupted the source of magic, transforming much of the world's population into merciless monsters called Riven. Empires crumbled. Civilization collapsed.

Yet an ember of hope remains. Duncan Keene is a Dread Knight, a dark warrior empowered by an unholy pact with a demon lord. He has sacrificed everything to save the world from the Riven—his family, his future, even his very soul. When he finds himself unexpectedly partnered with the last uncorrupted angel in the world, she makes it her mission to redeem him.

worthwhile story and some tasteful spice without it being too cringe, over the top or repetitive.

worthy story line

Love me some Sarah Hawke. It's got all the lovely bits that come with it. Story is all that, with enough depth to keep you interested.

Only downside was performance. Definitely not Brock's best work. Raya was great though and then there's always the story.

Very Wrath of the Righteous meets Dragon Age

Love me a Sarah Hawke adventure. The author never skimps on world building, compelling characters, a whole freakin' magic system, pulse-racing combat, and more spicy moments than a Bombay Vindaloo. Brilliant listening with great narration. Do recommend!

Deliciously Dark!

Fantastic voice acting, characterisation, world building and tension throughout. Honestly wasn't expecting this level of quality from a harem fantasy but it was some of the best I'd ever been engrossed in. 6/6
