The beautiful planet Pern seemed a paradise to its new colonists—a return to an agrarian way of life—until unimaginable terror turned it into hell. Lethal spores began to fall like silvery thread-like rain from the sky, vaporizing everything—and everyone—in their path. The colony, cut off from Earth and lacking the resources to combat the menace, was doomed.

The colonists noticed that small, dragon-like lizards in their new world were joining the fight against Thread, breathing fire on it and teleporting to safety. If only the dragonets were big enough for a human to ride and intelligent enough to work as a team with a rider. Unfortunately if you have read the book you will realise the audiobook is NOT the full story. VERY disappointed 😞

Not happy title cost full price but is missing a lot of the story, all others in the series I’ve read are complete this is a rip off & doesn’t do the original version justice!

Sadly this story, which it turns out is abridged, feels clipped. The performer uses accents and intimation which I found makes the story almost unbearable to listen to. It has a much more sci-fi feel to the other books in the series and a completely different feel, rich in characters and dialogue but staccato in pace.
