Summary
It's not always easy being a female warrior with a nickname like Annwyl the Bloody. Men tend to either cower in fear-a lot-or else salute. It's true that Annwyl has a knack for decapitating legions of her ruthless brother's soldiers without pausing for breath. But just once it would be nice to be able to really talk to a man - the way she can talk to Fearghus the Destroyer.
Too bad that Fearghus is a dragon, of the large, scaly, and deadly type.
With him, Annwyl feels safe - a far cry from the feelings aroused by the hard-bodied, arrogant knight Fearghus has arranged to help train her for battle. With her days spent fighting a man who fills her with fierce, heady desire, and her nights spent in the company of a magical creature who could smite a village just by exhaling, Annwyl is sure life couldn't get any stranger. She's wrong.

Critic Reviews
Not very deep emotionally. Deeper than some, but not as much as I would have preferred. Didn't shy away from the blood and gore, not the best written fight scenes but not too bad. Not a great deal of world building considering the plot line is about a kingdom civil war. A lot of emphasis put on character depiction(looks and mannerisms).
Not bad.

Good narration.
Thoroughly enjoyable in audible, though I do love reading the books and putting my own interpretation on the characters.
BOOK REVIEW
Fun and enjoyable read with entertaining characters.
Great storyline, action and quite humorous.
Loved having a strong female heroine in Annwyl the Bloody, she is a blast. Especially in how she reacts to Queen Rhiannon.
Fearghus the Destroyer was just so lacksadaisy in attitude. I loved him and how he seemed confused at times about Annwyl. Especially when he was the knight.
I have read this series a couple of times but never in order.
I am reading these in chronological order this time and finding it flows well this way.
New covers are now available but I am loath to pay twice for the same book that I bought many years ago in paperback but am buying the kindle versions when on sale.
Good narration.

One of my favourite series of all time!
