Publisher's Summary

Procrastination is an almost universal human experience. While many people attribute procrastination to laziness or a lack of drive, our real motivations to push back and delay important activities and decisions are more complicated than personal weakness. The truth is that humans are well-adapted for basic survival, but they are not so great at managing the stresses and expectations of modern life without a little help.

If our own minds so often work against us, how can we get things done without the stress and last-minute panic so common in our hectic 21st-century lives? You’ll learn how in Do It Now: Overcoming Procrastination, taught by Fuschia Sirois, PhD. In 10 lectures, Dr. Sirois will help you better understand the way your mind works and how to overcome the bad habits that are holding you back. Using the latest scientific research on procrastination, Dr. Sirois will give you the insight and guidance you need to set and meet goals, manage your time better, design an environment that will help you succeed, and much more.

Best of all, Dr. Sirois makes it clear that procrastination is a natural impulse for most people - sometimes, it can even be beneficial. She encourages you not only to work toward better time management but also to get rid of the burden of guilt and internal pressure that so often accompanies this very common behavior. While the tendency to delay the things we need to do is a deep-rooted habit, you will be able to apply and re-apply the strategies and tools you will acquire in this course for the rest of your life.

lost onterest

I'm an hour into this book and still haven't learnt how to overcome procrastination. as the title suggest, this is more a lecture than a self help book, perhaps more suited to those who can endure through lectures than those who suffer from procrastination.
I need a more a more concise version of this book.

Overcoming Procrastination - This is the book I needed 15 years ago

Of all the books I’ve read on procrastination, this has been the most impactful. It explains the complex reason we turn to procrastination in an effort to regulate our mood. With just as much focus on evidence based techniques to overcome it. The author is clearly an expert in the area. I wish I had found this book years ago.
Go on, this is the one. No need to keep looking.

This audio book is packed full of useful information about what I think has been my greatest enemy since as long as I can remember; procrastination.

Now I know and better understand the nature and forms of it and without a doubt( thanks to this book) Will forever be more aware when it tears it’s ugly heads in my daily life; As a matter of fact, I believe I am already on the journey back from procrastination land!!

Helpful but a bit boring tbh

I feel like this could have been shortened and more direct for the target audience ie procrastinators.

Boring stories

don't expect anything "interesting" From the university professors. they give you lecture, not telling stories. that is the difference between the drop out youtube stars vs PHd holder university professors.

Insightful, evidence based and actionable

Amidst a world of quack science and self proclaimed gurus, what a breath of fresh air from a social scientist who traverses a wealth of studies to produce compelling insight and practical advice to make changes and action. Worth every minute
