Publisher's Summary

Exploring New Earth should be a thrilling undertaking. Instead, the more the colonists learn about the planet, the more alarmed they become. Alien ruins hint at a species who fought great wars among themselves and disappeared centuries ago.

When Connor Gates discovers a hidden bunker, he finds something he never expected. Everything the colonists have learned about New Earth’s previous inhabitants is wrong. Connor must race to unravel the mystery. The colonists must face the possibility that they are not alone and that New Earth was never theirs for the taking.

Another great book in the series

I enjoyed this audiobook just as I did the ones earlier in the series. The storyline is getting very interesting, for sure.

The best chapters are the last 2.

The other 38 chapters are boring and predictable.
Ony the last 2chapter that leads up to a new boek is any good.

Slow unraveling of New Earth mysteries-Disappoints

Emphasis on slow. A book so short shouldn't have such a slow start. One of the mysteries in the book involve wondering why the main character, Conner is Mayor as well as principal explorer. We gradually discover(with Conner) mysteries associated with the NEIIS (New Earth Indigenous Intelligent Species) apparently pronounced "Newies" and Ryclar. The archaeological techniques using thermite explosives, shovels and hands seem more akin to Schliemman(who used similar techniques to excavate Troy in 1875) than a space-faring archaeologist. Disappointing.

Quite poorly written book. Inconsistent & bland

Struggled to finish this book. The narrator was the only saving grace. Plot is non-existent except for perhaps a few minutes when the MC first comes across a bunker and then at the very end. Everything else simply feels like filler material.

Characters are one dimensional & dumb. The technology is comical (communication is down but GPS works, Hi-Tech nanosuit armor that doesn't have head protection). Also sidearms do not exist. People either use a rifle, or a knife.

First contact with aliens is managed by boy scouts with room temperature IQ, and their designated aliens "expert" is a therapist (no, seriously). Scientists and military exist but are apparently too busy or apathetic to deal with first contact with aliens.

I could keep going, but you get the picture. If you can switch off your brain, you might enjoy this book. I did not. Oh and before I forget, the author also blatantly justifies genocide of natives by colonizers as a necessity if the natives have the capability of defending themselves against invaders. Yes, seriously. Says something about all these 5 star reviews.

Simply Outstanding

While I failed to comment on Genesis, after listening to Ken Lozito’s unexpected personal remarks at the conclusion of Book-7, I decided to go back to the earliest book of the "First Colony Series," still in my possession, to input this brief analysis. Indeed, I lack the suitable words to convey the extent of my enormous appreciation for each single work of this anthology, for, ever since I finished listening to Genesis, I could not wait to start enjoying the next one. Lastly, I would like to vigorously applaud the author of this magnificent series, and to thank him for having composed them for his devoted audience.
