Publisher's Summary

Dinosaur is the first novel in the New World Series.

AD2112, and one of the darkest political movements in recent history hides in the shadows, poised for a second stab at power. However, an accidental discovery leading to time travel emboldens them to think even bigger - and their plan is simple: Erase everyone, start again.

The crew of the USS New World are thrown into a nightmare. Finding themselves initially in the Cretaceous Period, they must survive. All the while, a constant and ruthless enemy presses them. Collateral damage seems inevitable as they begin the journey home, to an unknown future.

An insane plan is hatched to save humanity. Fighting to stop it could doom us all. When every action and decision may determine the fate of everyone who has ever lived, the right choice is not always clear. However, for one man, there is no choice at all...

Captain James Douglas sets off on a mundane transport and supply mission that quickly descends into disaster. Leading a fledgling society through a wild and hostile world was not part of his brief. Nor was the custodianship of all human life, history, and endeavour. Worse still, the knowledge of a boy, just days out of school, may be all that stands between mankind and extinction.

The crew of the USS New World are lost almost 100 million years ago in Gondwana. It is the time of the dinosaur.

Battling conflicting evidence, misinformation, and baffling discoveries, the castaways hope to reveal who has placed them in such terrible danger, why, and most importantly, what on ancient Earth can they do about it?

Critic Reviews

“A highly suspenseful time-travel adventure series, combining a clever mix of detailed prehistory and history throughout - not to mention some great bad guys. The twists and turns really keep you guessing, while the darkness and humour really keep you reading. Not to be missed.” (Black Sheep Books)

Love Chris Barrie, but boy did the story go no where

Chris Barrie’s talent knows no bounds and he truly shows off all of his voices and his acting prowess. The story however could’ve been soooooooo much shorter. For a book called Dinosaur there weren’t many dinosaurs. Basically it’s a very long who dunnit and in the end I couldn’t do honestly care less

Sardonic fun in the Cretaceous

I haven't finished this yet but I am enjoying it. The narration/acting is kind of goofy with lots of different voices come from the British accented narrator. The science fiction is a pretty engaging story of a mission to Mars getting sabotaged and winding up stranded in the Cretaceous with the saboteurs onboard. The tone of the book is a little goofy. Definitely some British humor going on. Maybe a little over the top, but better than no sense of humor at all! I'm definitely looking forward to Book 2 already. Keep 'em coming!

UPDATE: I still haven't quite finished it but I'm well into the last chapter and still enjoying it. I would definitely buy the next book in the series and I hope it arrives quickly!

Mediocre.

This book could have been so much better. I continued listening, hoping it would become better than a series of avoidable, military slip-ups and racial stereotyping. It failed.

Had to

After two chapters, I bought a shovel off prime. That’s how much I dig it

Can't wait for next in the series.

I enjoyed every minute of this book, so engrossing I just wanted to keep on listening through the night. The book is beautifully written and the narration by Chris Barrie is quite simply brilliant, Chris uses his expertise to give every character their own voice and personality, so much more than just a reading, Chris gives a performance. The only problem I have now is I can't wait for the next book(s) in the series, please hurry it on here when it's available Audible.

Brilliant series

Excellent adventure series and brilliantly performed by the amazing Chris Barrie! Having read the books, I can't wait to hear the rest of the series narrated.
