Publisher's Summary

Love is a life-and-death risk for the Mountain Mercenaries in New York Times best-selling author Susan Stoker’s explosive series of alpha heroes, hot action, and hard passion....

Ever since his rescue op off the Pacific Coast, Mountain Mercenary Gray Rogers hasn’t been able to forget his latest “job” - Allye Martin. Any other woman would have panicked during a rescue, but the wily dancer kept her cool - even after being kidnapped by an elusive human trafficker. And Gray couldn’t be happier when a grateful Allye follows him home to Colorado Springs.... For Allye, finding sanctuary in the arms - and bed - of the former Navy SEAL is only temporary. People are disappearing off the streets of San Francisco, victims of the same underground trade that targeted her, and Allye could be the key to dismantling the entire operation. She’s willing to do anything to bring them down. Gray isn’t - for good reason. But you don’t say no to a tough girl like Allye who refuses to play it safe. Now Gray is risking more than ever before. The Mountain Mercenaries have his back. But is it enough to keep the woman he loves out of harm’s way?

Eh, it's ok.

All the men seemed to be a little neanderthal-ish.
The book moved along slowly. It seemed the team seamed to be good at what they did, but only in the beginning and the end.

Another great series from Susan Stoker!

I so admire the fact that Susan Stoker touched on a subject that still a problem today, trafficking. It is not an easy subject to write, and should definitely not be written lightly.

Defending Allye was y all means spot on!

Allye and Gray’s story had grit. It had violence. It had sex. If you are squeamish about the reality of trafficking, I would either suggest that you pull your big-girl panties, or go read something frou-frou, because this one is unapologetic. But if I could suggest, please go ahead and read Allye’s story, because the topic is real and should not be hidden behind closed doors.

And if you say Allye’s reaction of keeping her cool is unrealistic in such a plot—who is to say that us women should not learn how to face situations like she did?

Bravo, Susan Stoker, as always!

My favorite so far.....

I like this book. I’ve listened to a few of her books and enjoyed this story and narration the best. I really like the women characters in her books, they are all real.
I’ve read some of the other reviews and all I have to say, is if you’re looking for a totally realistic story line, then romance novels aren’t for you. Also, some of the reviews say that the men in these books are a little too Neanderthal, macho, and dominating. Of course they are, they’re all Special Forces! But all the men treat the lead female character with respect and I appreciate that.
This book does have some explicit sex in it, but again, it’s a romance novel so don’t expect anything more.
It’s a good story line and it is the first in a series. If you like romance novels and a good adventure story rolled into one....you will enjoy this book.

interesting

i enjoy stories about men that were military trained and use that knowledge for the better. i thought Alley was a very interesting character. Her opening up to Grey that first night about her childhood was a nice way for them to bond. Her being calm an thinking to grab that flash drive could possibly help save many more women and children.

Too formulaic

Really hated the porn parts of the story. It could have been done less crudely. But hen I guess it was a standard formulaic cheap novel. Sorry to have wasted my time.

Too dark, too much graphic sex

This narration is very good. However, the story covers a very disturbing subject and too much graphic sex.

Live

This book was written and well planned. The love story emerged so evenly that you were not aware of it until you were hooked on the plot itself.

Cheesy romance

Reader was good. Free book only reason I stick it through. So if you like romance stories with cheesy sex scenes this book is for you.

Storyline ok.. writing was horrible

got through the whole thing because the storyline kept you wanting to know what would happen. the sex writing could be alot more intellectual. Dont get me wrong, I love good sex scenes, 50 Shades is one of my favorites, if written well but unintelligent wording is just laughable for a suspense romance.

A Great new series!

I loved this! and listened to it all nearly in one day.

Gray and Allye made a lovely couple. The way they bonded during her rescue at the beginning of the book was funny, cute, heartwarming and had me glued tot he story. I was invested in both of the them from the get go and couldn't put the story down.
I can't wait to read the second book in the story.

Narration was very good and the characters all very well performed.
